Bill Kenwright — Master Story Teller

By John   Roberts  ::  01/02/2012   64 Comments (»Last)

What a great day Tuesday 31 January 2012 was for all Everton supporters. But even more importantly, what a great day it was for Billy Bullshitter! Some good transfer window dealings, both inwards and outwards, and a great win over league leaders Manchester City.

But be very careful with your new-found enthusiasm. You?re playing right into Billy?s hands with a plan I?m sure he?s orchestrated for quite some time.

Player transfers since end of last season until the start of the January window:

Out:?
 Vaughan £2m
 Beckford £4m
 Yakubu £1.5m
 Arteta £10m
 Mustafi Free

Total £17.5m

In:?
Dier Loan
Stracqualursi Loan
Drenthe Loan
McFadden Free
Hahnemann Free

Total Zero

Profit from sales £17.5m

?Right? says Billy, ?decision made, we?re not spending any of that income on players. We?ll let the supporters scream the house down but none of it is being spent. And just think of our nett save in wages."When I spend a few million in January, which hopefully will be based on further sales, they?ll think we?ve turned the corner and it?ll look like I?m pumping some money back into the club.?

So, as we?ve all seen, our January sales earned £5.5m (Bilyaletdinov & Saha) and expenditure was £6.5m (Donovan, Gibson, Jelavic & Pienaar); nett spend of £1m. Luckily for Billy our 3 potentially good transfer dealings happen on the same day as the win over the league leaders.

Everyone is now on the up but the real story is he?s stripped £16.5m from the value of the playing squad in just over 6 months. I?m sure after that nice little result he?s working on the plan for the same period this coming year. We may never be relegated but we?ll certainly never challenge for the title.

Billy's maybe not just a blithering idiot (although he does seem to give us plenty of evidence that he is) but could actually be quite a scheming operator.

Billy, let go if you love the club.
