, 7 July, 30comments  |  Jump to most recent
Evertonians will be able to tune in for six of the pre-season games live online this summer via evertontv.

The fixtures against Dundee United, Motherwell, Galatasaray, Indonesia or Malaysia, Blackpool and Malaga will all be available to watch on the official Club website.

Each fixture is available to order now at a pay-per-view price of just £3.99 but the cheapest option is to purchase the six-game package for £18.99.

So you'd rather rip Everton off then, Peter?

Is right Conor.

What chance do we stand?

If you want to watch the six games then £18.99 is a bargain. If we continue to bemoan Everton's lack of a proper 'business plan' then refuse to pay tuppence for six games then as supporters we aren't doing our bit either.

It takes two to tango!

I will be buying the 6 game package and think it is a great deal. Not sure how anybody could object to such a low price and claim they are a supporter! With a mindset like that no wonder others think we are a small club.

I was quite happy to pay the ETV subscription and get the lot, and that came with a warm feeling of supporting the club too. The other way round feels more like being manipulated. OK, so £3 a game, rationally, is fine. But consumers don't always make rational choices.

I'll check, of course, but is there any problem about being outside the UK - Spain in my case.

That's not a bad deal, that... unfortunately I'll be away for a couple of them.

Oh, by the way the league table is looking healthy — even at this early stage of the season!

Does anyone know if you can watch the games, via the official site, on an iPad?

Ryan

I watch evertonTV on iPad and there is also an app which they don't usually keep that up to date with highlights so don't know.

On the basis you can see all the video on the evertonTV site on iPad I don't see why they would make it Flash just for this but I wouldn't bet my house on it..

What time will the Indonesian games kick off UK time?

Jamie, Indonesia is GMT + 7. I don't know what time the games are due to KO locally, but don't be surprised if they are evening games if it's a weekend (also helps with the climate).

Last pre-season I bought the full package but couldn't get all the games working.

Then, they reduced the price for the last few games!

I'll be looking for a link on the day,
if there isn't one, I'll just buy one game at a time.

I've said this before - people say, 'where is the money Kenwright?' but when it comes time to pay themselves they're always looking for a free stream or cheap knock-off unofficial merchandise or a way to get into the match for nothing. Then they go on a march., chanting 'If you love this club...." You know what? If you love this club, pay the online fees buy tickets, go to the games and but the merchandise. That's part of what support means.

Jack, I for one will pay to watch. I enjoyed watching the pre-season stuff last year. I saw a lad called Barkley play in the US games who looked ok, I wonder what happened to him though ?
As for buying the merchandise... dont get me started. Another payday just gone for me, still no sign of the home shirt. Add to this the Utd game changing to a Monday.. an expensive time of the year !

Whoa there Jack, are you genuinely saying the BU supporters are solely responsibly for buying knock off or blouse gear, watching games for free online, and bunking into GP? Massive leap into bullshit labelling there

£18.99 is not cheap to a skint person like me. Some of us are on the Dole. Just because I can't afford it doesn't make me a shitty supporter for wanting to see the games free online. It's either free or don't see em, I'd choose free if the option was there.

Peter, whilst I really do understand your situation.. surely broadband must be the first to go if your skint ? Use the Library for free..
Watching Evertons pre-season games would certainly not be my priority..

Mark, I get what you're saying but when it comes to Everton our priorities become distorted to the point of apparent madness.

Andy, I have had to re-book train tickets tonight, and return flight tickets to get back to work for 12pm on the Tueday just to watch the first home game... thats madness. Paying for broadband if your genuinely skint is crazy ? I pay £35+ a month for my BT and begrudge every penny. Yes, I use p2p for links myslef, but food on the table comes before watching Everton playing Blackpool surely ??

No, the BU is not solely responsible for are solely responsibly for buying knock off or blouse gear, watching games for free online, and bunking into GP and in fact I did not say that. But don't let the facts get in the way of your being right.

Mark (#698), after food and mortgage, broadband is probably at the top of my list of things to pay for. I'd cut off all TV, land and mobile phone subscriptions before I cut off broadband. In fact, I haven't bought a newspaper, watched TV or made a call from a landline in years. One simply cannot do without the internet these days. As a source of information alone, it is priceless. With things like iTunes University, Youtube and Google, to name just a few sources, there is a bewildering array of freely available knowledge on the interwebs to avail oneself of. To pay £35 a month for access to almost the entire collective body of human knowledge, superior news coverage, keeping in contact with far-flung loved ones, on-demand entertainment and all the porn you could want, it's a steal in my book.

As for the 6 games, I'm sure there are some logistical costs involved in making a live stream available and £20 seems a fair price to help the club offset any incurred. Don't know if I'd pay it myself. They'll probably cock something up. Tried to order a shirt off them when it went on offer for £10. They cancelled the order coz the credit card details were wrong but didn't tell me. Wasn't until 2 months later that I checked, wondering why international shipping was taking so bloody long that I found out they had cancelled it. Why they didn't simply email me to verify the details and complete the order I don't know. I ordered the '86/87 Season Review Anniv. Special from a different site and it arrived in a week! You can't even give this club money sometimes. Shambles.

Rory, I agree, the internet is indispensable now. I'm sure there are many Evertonians who for no fault of their own cannot afford to pay the fee to watch the games online. It's surprising, however, that fans who would not dream of stealing the money to pay for it will steal the service itself and think there's a significant difference.

Fans who can't afford to pay don't have to do without. They can, for example, find some mates who can put together the money between them and watch it together. Stealing from Everton should be the very last option or no option at all.

Most of us have at some time in our lives struggled to find the money to support Everton.
It's no crime to be skint, but it's not an excuse to cry "rip-off" when the club tries to recover some of its costs.

It's not a rip-off. You get to see games (some played on the other side of the world) for the price of a pint. That's ridiculously cheap.

If they put on some half time porn you wouldnt get any complaints. There's got to be a joke somewhere, big tits – half-time Bill Kenwright interview.

Rory, I do agree. Its a personal issue I have with BT that clouds my judgment. You say you would cut off TV, Phone line before broadband. TV licence is virtually compulsory, and having broadband without a phone line is impossible with BT anyway.

Ian, half time porn ? The wife walking in on you knocking one out whilst watching evertontv ?

The club gets its fair share of money out of me. Season tickets, a shirt every year, overpriced food and drink at the ground. I'll be buying these pre-season games too, no doubt. However, if I was skint, I would definitely look for a free stream.

On a side note. Does anyone know when the home shirt is out? Although I think it's got to be the away one this year...
