New home kit reveal set for Thursday

The controversial white armbands look to have been retained by the Club

Everton will unveil the much-delayed 2012-13 home strip on the Official Site on Thursday and fans will get to see it worn by the players for the first time at Morecambe this weekend.

The reasons for the delay in releasing the kit are not clear at this point; the Club have kept their cards very close to their chest on the matter, though unspecified "technical issues" were cited by a Communications Department representative last month.

Director of Communications, Paul Tyrrell, responded to a fan on Twitter today, though, explaining that Everton had to be patient and wait their turn with Nike:

"With the world's biggest sportswear manufacturer you have to take your place in the queue. With a lower level brand, you [Nike] can dictate."

With new images of a potential home jersey floating around the Internet over the past couple of weeks, there was speculation that Everton have changed the design from the one teased in the behind-the-scenes video for the away kit's release.

However, a photograph of Steven Naismith wearing the new strip leaked today seems to confirm the design modeled on the Brazil shirt with the thick white bands on the sleeves.

Other images showed a simpler, more traditional, all-blue jersey with a white-trimmed v-neck.

Will it still only be available at the club shop or online now or will it be in retail stores now that we are with Nike?

Well about blood time ! 2 days until available to pre-order according to my emai..
Seamus, I would be surprised if JD Sports didnt have it available this time, but knowing us some kitbag arrangement will be in place.

I think Kitbag are the only ones allowed to sell official goods so it will have to be off the website unless you can get to Everton One or Two.

Think John has it. I'm of the understanding that our Kitbag deal stops us from selling merch in retail stores...stupid I know.

Even though I'm not head over heels for it I pefer the top image with the bands around the sleeve. I always want the home strip to look traditional but that second version look really really boring. It looks more like a training top.

The second image looks amateur and lacking any style. Hopefully the actual kit will be a lot slicker. Roll on Thursday...

This Kitbag deal is a joke. When does it end!!? It seems we've been locked into it for years already, can't be long left.

On the jerseys, I echo the comments above, first one looks much better.

The second kit looks exactly like the Kejian Puma kit from a few years back

Yep the Marcus Bent kit

All the new Nike kits seem to be a bit plain and boring/simple and stylish, (old school?) but please god don't let it resemble the chequered manure kit

I'm sure I have at least two versions of the second one in my drawers! If that is the kit then I won't be buying! If it's the first one, it looks very smart and by the looks of the emails Everton have been sending teasing the kit, there will definitely be a chunk of white on it so that's more realistic!

I saw the new all-black away kit being sold in the Nike shop in Liverpool One. Does this mean all Everton kits will be sold in all Nike shops worldwide? Now that would be a big step in the right direction.

This Kitbag deal is a bloody joke, no wonder the crowd across the road are better supported worldwide. Can't get a kit unless it's ordered online; here in Ireland it sickens me to see every sports shop lined out with every teams kit apart from Everton's. The loss of revenue here must be outrageous, it is no wonder them arabs have a good laugh at us when they looked into buying the club.

I hope neither of the 2 shirts above are the official kit, not because I dont like them but because it kind of ruins the excitment as sad as that might sound! If on thursday I log on and its one of these kits it will be an anti climax!

Mark, I was in the Nike shop a few weeks back and they will be selling the Everton Range. they are actually buying then direct from Kitbag, so don't know how that works....probably expect a price hike in the Nike shops.

I quite like the white cuffs, looks distinctive and smart. I'll be disappointed if the design has been dropped for the one below, which looks like it should cost a tenner.

I'd rather the white bands on the sleeves... but how would the design look on long sleeved shirts? I think that might have been the problem.

My lad who goes on grandoldteam, said someone had emailed the club about the delay, and Paul Tyrrell who has taken over the role of the knob Ross, said "With the world's biggest sportswear manufacturer you have to take your place in the queue. With a lower level brand, you can dictate."

My lad has just told me it wasn't an email, but was a reply from Paul Tyrrell to a lad on twitter.

Robbie 230 - cuffs?

Does that photo of Naismith look a bit doctored to anyone else though....? Think the white bands are possible though having seen Arsenals new shirt by Nike.

Mike if you look at the Brazil shirt it pretty much matches the design but for the colour, those armbands are rank - http://twitter.com/riescoefc2011/status/223117482637017089/photo/1

Oh Jesus, you're right Gavin. Seems to work OK on the Brazil kit though, not sure what ours looks like..... medics.....?

Having said that I was never a fan of the Hafnia 'bib' top, it's a bit like that (illogical splash of white) so might work as a bit of a charm.

I won't be buying that! Lazy design from an arrogant brand. I prefer the away strip.

Just gone onto the official site to buy it.. you know, like a midnight launch like books, computer games etc do.. Be the first to get the shirt !

I never learn.

Funny how, in all the previous versions of this strip, it's looked well fitted and dynamic almost like a skins-type top. To be honest not a fan of this kit at all; it looks like Naismith is wearing an cheap replica or something.

Hoping it's not the final version. The away strip looked to have a much better cut.

^Russell, it needs to be a bit looser for all us potbellied manboobed fans.

It could be worse, we could have a Puma kit. Look like a gay stripper in a muscle shirt.
