Fee finally agreed for Yobo

Everton and Fenerbahçe appear to have finally come to agreement over a fee for Joseph Yobo, with the Nigerian's protracted transfer expected to be tied up this weekend.

Citing a statement by the Turkish club, Turkish-Football say that a €2.3m deal has been struck after weeks of frustrating deadlock between the two clubs and that Yobo himself has agreed terms for €2m a season.

BBC World Service correspondent Oluwashina Okaleji added further credence to the report when he Tweeted a quote from John Shittu, the defender's agent saying:

Transfer fee has been agreed by both clubs. It should be finalised any moment [weekend].

I hope we can re-invest this money and it's not the Pienaar brass.

I'm sure Yobo is as relieved as us that he's finally gone. Most retarded transfer ever.

€2.3M? We've been robbed.

Step AWAY from that subject, Glen. Please.

I think we are going to be out of luck there Mark. I think the Cahill and Yobo funds went straight to the bank to cover Peinnars fee. We are still down on last seasons squad. I think we still need a right winger and a forward for cover. Hopefully there is enough in the coffers for a loan or two.

Garett, I foresee those loans will Cahill and Donovan come January.. Brace for a rocky start again!

Why is it that whenever Everton Transfer talk comes up your mind immediately leaps to the words 'Piss up and Brewery"

Vijay..... I would expect the start to be a lot better than the past. We haven't really lost anyone of note from the team that finished so strong. While Cahill had been a great player, it hasn't been for sometime... at worst Naismith is a push. Other than a tough opening match, our first 6 fixtures look fairly manageable.

IF no one has to go at the deadline, I'm pretty optimistic! (A rare feeling!)

Tony, my fear is the lack of squad numbers. We may have a decent first team, but all we need is a few injuries/suspensions, and we will be in strife once again.

Nevertheless, I hope you're rightly optimistic!

Kevin Elliott

you are not a nice person. He served this club well and in his prime was a good player for this club - perhaps with a tendency for one mistake per match, but then so too was Gary Sprake.

during his time here we played 274 premiership matches and conceeded an average of just over 1 goal per game. He was also in the squad that came 4th in 2004/5.

So there was no need for the Good Riddance. James Flynn had it right - Good Luck.

If you can't say something nice about somebody, don't say anything. The benefit of saying something nasty about someone you do not know is . . . ?

I think the cash will go towards the Pienaar deal but so be it. We have a decent squad; if all the players are up for it, and the younger fringe players can come in and do a job, I see no reason why we can't get European football again.

Tony #699, did you think QPR at home 2nd game (scheduled) of last season looked fairly manageable by any chance?

Eric@732

Eric, I think we all thought QPR were manageable. We never learn.

A glib comment, Eric (732), and unnecessarily negative.

1. We will start this season with a much better first team than we started last season, including a world class finisher.

2. My memory (and the stats) recalls that we battered QPR in that game to which you refer, but our toothless attack (Beckford started that game, and Saha come on as a late sub) couldn't stick the ball in the onion bag.

Stats don't give us points though Peter.

Another glib comment, Your Royal Glibness.

I prefer to be optimistic, and support the comments of Tony (699), largely because I believe that we WILL start with a better first team this time round. We can all make smart-arsed comments with the benefit of hindsight, but I'm happy to add my name to the more positive Toffeewebbers, going into the new season.

Absolutely chuffed about this but it ain't done yet and I would hope it happens and we can wash our hands of this protracted saga and not deal with them again.

I expect a good start to the season and hope we can have a great run with Jelavic banging them in from the off putting us right up there with the best!
Can Moyes Do it Again for us, Champions League??!!
I do feel confident in the squad, COYBB!!!

I cannot help feeling positive. I would like an extra signing or two but I genuinely would put our team, if all fit, up against anybody at home and as we showed at Old Trafford, we are a match for most away aswell. Whilst I don't think we have the squad to challenge for the title I think if we can avoid serious injuries too the likes of Baines, Peinnar, Jelavich and Fellaini then the CL is possible. We just need to avoid defeat on the opening day and go from there.
