Season › 2012-13 › News Everton hold Mirallas talks Michael Kenrick , 15 August, 141comments | Jump to most recent Moyes looking to tie up £5.3m deal for Belgian forward Everton are looking to sign Kevin Mirallas, a versatile 24-year-old Belgian forward who plays his club football with Olympiakos. The BBC report that the two clubs are in talks while Sky Sports claim he will undergo a medical at Finch Farm tomorrow ahead of a proposed £5.3m move, although Greg O'Keeffe of the Echo suggests that, with the fee not yet agreed with the Greek side, the claim could be premature. Nevertheless, David Moyes attended Belgium's 4-2 friendly win over the Netherlands with Mirallas' agent Christophe Henrotay this evening as he looks to seal the deal. The fee would represent around half of the money Everton received from Manchester City for the services of Jack Rodwell last weekend. Mirallas is expected on Merseyside on Thursday for a medical and to complete the transfer. The forward, who can operate on either wing as well as through the middle, has also played for Lille and St Etienne and was the top scorer in Greece with 20 league goals last season. He has 27 caps with five goals and would link up again with his international team-mate Marouane Fellaini, who is about to start his fifth season at Goodison. Moyes has apparently been monitoring the player all summer and is now finally in a position to make his move. Draw your own conclusions..http://youtu.be/JaLk9MPnWrk Look's like Fellaini's going to have some competition for my wife.. Graham Foster 2 Posted 15/08/2012 at 00:46:29 So we have now been linked with Kevin Mirallas... he looks pretty damn good. Natural goal scorer! Mark Riding 3 Posted 15/08/2012 at 01:43:48 Kevin Mirallas looks quite handy actually... Gary Richardson 4 Posted 15/08/2012 at 04:32:22 Great player and a great piece of business if true. Arsenal and Utd have been interested in the past. Good to see the money reinvested in the right area. Edward Simpson 5 Posted 15/08/2012 at 04:47:39 This would be, if pulled off, one of our best signings in recent years. Looks like an incredible clinical goalscorer and right-winger. This would really solve our problems on the right hand side of the pitch. Hope these rumours are true about him, I'm finally excited about something for once. Peter Thistle 6 Posted 15/08/2012 at 05:19:37 Would be interesting if true but the £6mil clause ran out in july apparently. We'd have to pay a fair bit more it seems. David Barks 7 Posted 15/08/2012 at 05:34:38 Don't know anything about him, not going to claim to, but he sounds decent. If we sign him, I hope he proves valuable. At least he should be comfortable with Fellaini. I just want to see us adding to the team, provide some optimism. Personally, I expect one signing, maybe this one, and a couple of loans. And I would have to admit I'd be fairly pleased with that, Naismith, Pienaar, "unnamed signing", and two loans. Provided we don't sell anyone else. Tom Dodds 8 Posted 15/08/2012 at 06:06:18 Word on the street (a la police squad)... is there will be 3 out and 3 in ..one of them out being Heitinga.. Kunal Desai 9 Posted 15/08/2012 at 06:42:51 This is already a done deal according to someone on GOT forum. They called the Cahill transfer to NYRB before it happened. Anto Byrne 10 Posted 15/08/2012 at 06:34:21 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NmMJI2MDY4 Graham Foster 11 Posted 15/08/2012 at 07:11:26 just to get people a little to over excited and to build you up, just to let you down here's a little tease.also who would you rather see DM sign Mirallas or M'baye Niang? David Chait 12 Posted 15/08/2012 at 07:48:48 For some reason this one doesnt excite me as much. His stats in Olympiacos are decent... but Guidetti from Man City with 20 goals for Feyenoord last season is a lot tastier to me.I'm wondering if we are being linked now so cos we have some money. Normally the links are a little vague, but this week its all been that we have made offers etc.Graham, I would take Niang. Derek Thomas 13 Posted 15/08/2012 at 07:59:50 Although optimism is not illegal on here, remember that this is Everton we are talking about. We are controlled by a man whose day job is bullshitting potential investors into backing his productions, of which EFC is but one.IMO that is how he got Earl and Green sucked in and some might say that is where the perrenial XX Millions per season in ' Operating costs' goes...but I couldn't possibley comment.Long story short: wait until; a) the start of the season and ...b) the 1st Sept and see whats what when the dust has settled. Ciarán McGlone 14 Posted 15/08/2012 at 08:19:33 "The forward who can operate on either wing"... That's the key phrase we look for, this has legs.I'll let the Prozac gang extol the merits of spending all our cash on a utility bench warmer. Paul Brown 15 Posted 15/08/2012 at 08:25:56 That little megs at 01.37 is delightful, Cheers Graham James Morgan 16 Posted 15/08/2012 at 08:00:41 YouTube could even make Vic look good, but some of the tricks this guy can do other players can only dream of doing. If we got him and Niang and kept everybody else I'd be pretty happy. We wouldn't have to keep putting Coleman on the right and we could start to try and make him the full back he is meant to be. Drew O'Neall 17 Posted 15/08/2012 at 08:24:16 This bloke is exciting. Stick his name in youtube.. He makes Ronaldo look shy. Sort of played we have been craving, IF this comes off it will be another great piece of 2012 Everton transfer business. If it was in the Mail I wouldn't believe it but Guardian are usually on the ball. Chris Morris 18 Posted 15/08/2012 at 08:27:46 I remember Drenthe was exceptional on YouTube. Tony Hibbert's goal is on YouTube, so it looks like he's a free kick taker!!Let's be real, until you see these players wearing a Blue shirt or anything official comes from the club, then I wouldn't be getting too excited Kev Johnson 19 Posted 15/08/2012 at 08:27:17 The YouTube link - yeah, he looks nifty, but I've learn not to trust 'Best of...' compilations. When we bought Bily, I looked at him on YouTube and thought: "Wow, what a player!"Turned out he was Mr Dodgy.I'm happy we're reinvesting the money - fingers crossed he'll do the business for us.Most importantly, it will be good to have a Kev in the team! Steven Astley 22 Posted 15/08/2012 at 08:41:16 No chance. Arsenal are in for him too..http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/908508-kevin-mirallas-confirms-talks-over-arsenal-switch Kase Chow 23 Posted 15/08/2012 at 08:45:29 Well one way or t'other, it appears we're trying to invest the Rodwell money on a potential first teamerWhateve ryou think of Rodwell, the strategy of replacing a squad player with a first teamer HAS to be the correct oneCan we visit dream world and pretend we're gonna sign Mirallas AND Niang? :-) Graham Foster 24 Posted 15/08/2012 at 08:46:02 is anyone eles frantically pressing refresh on the everton site waiting for the announcement? haha think I might be a while. Phil Sammon 25 Posted 15/08/2012 at 08:49:08 Well after watching that vid I only have one real thought: this guy doesn't look like a Moyes signing. Yes he looks world class...but does he track back?! David Moore 27 Posted 15/08/2012 at 08:55:56 There won't be an announcement for atleast 24 hours. The lad is playing tonight for Belguim with Fellani, and against Johnny's Dutch side. So by the time those boys can put him in handcuffs and get him over to finch farm blind-folded, tonight and most likely most of tomorrow would have passed. The only way an announcement would be made today, would be after the game tonight, coming from Olympiakos, saying they have accepted a bid from us.But hey, here's hoping miracles do happen and we get both Miralles and NiangJust a thought to a line up HowardColeman Heitinga Distin Baines Fellani Gibson Miralles Naismith Pienaar Jelavic Kev Johnson 28 Posted 15/08/2012 at 08:58:39 I agree with Phil. He doesn't look like a Moyes player. But the word is that he's coming over for a medical on Thursday, so it sounds like a goer.Maybe Moyes had turned over a new leaf?To be fair to him, he did take a chance of Drenthe last season, so maybe he's realised that the best way to defend is to attack! I know, I know - it sounds unlikely, but in theory it's possible...Chris - that's good enough for me. I'm in. Not sure Jelavic is gonna get in the team next season, not with The Two Kevs leading the line! Adam Luszniak 29 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:02:39 Phil Sammon that's exactly what I was thinking... but we can live in hope! Chris Morris 30 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:07:13 Kev... Don't worry I'm sure Moyesy will use him as defensive midfielder or GoalieActually, I think we could do with a better GK. I like Howard I really do, but I don't think he's any better than "very good" Ray Roche 31 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:05:37 James Morgan @923 "YouTube could even make Vic look good"Don't be silly. David Chait 32 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:07:20 Yeah I've been to youtube now.. and he does look skilfull... then Bily also looked quick on youtube. Graham Foster 33 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:07:41 Sky Sports News - Everton Look to sign Mirallas later today, the 6m release clause is void and expected to cost less. Peter Henry 34 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:12:55 Young, the position and real cash! Am I not playing football manager! Fingers crossed on this one!!! Brent Stephens 35 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:16:48 Graham, where on SPN? Graham Foster 36 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:22:54 its not on the site mate, its on the TV. Mark Tanton 39 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:26:48 If we bring him in, I think we can start to say we've had the best summer for years in terms of organisation, direction and professionalism. I do wonder that we might lose someone else yet, and bring more in. The squad is one of those important periodic refurbishments. Mark Tanton 41 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:30:26 On another note, interesting to see that once again the Echo seems to behind the curve. They didn't get near the Rodwell story. I wonder if that's a sign of the relationship the paper has with the club recently. Graham Foster 44 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:31:58 I agree Mark, look at our main 11 ages -Howard - 33Hibb - 31Bain - 27Heitinga - 28jag - 29Distin - 35Nev - 35osman - 33peanuts - 30 Jim Knightley 47 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:32:32 I don't understand the Moyes turning over a new leaf stuff...he has been signing attacking players for the last couple of seasons. Beckford, Silva, Gueye, Vellios, Stracqualursi, Drenthe, Donovan, Pienarr, Jelavic, Naismith...where do these guys play? I think the problem areas are there for everyone to see, Moyes included. If we pull this guy off, it would be fantastic. As per previous prediction, about us having at least 8million of the 12million to spend, I expect we will bring someone else in (providing this story is valid). Hopefully we can add one or two on loan as well, preferably a creative mid to give us some depth. Links like these is why there was optimism about selling Rodwell for a fee which could rise to 17million. He played in a person where we have Fellaini and Gibson, Osman and Neville (at a stretch), and Junior and Barkley coming through. But we have no natural right sided player at the club, and bringing someone who can play outwide and up top is the perfect scenario. Could be three new signings before the season begins then...We are almost like a normal club. Bobby Thomas 49 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:20:39 I don't think Moyes will ever leave himself as short up top as he did last season. As has been said before on here, the way we operate a manager can only do evolution not revolution here. The squad is slowly being turned over. For differing reasons it was the end for the Yak, Cahill and Saha. We were very short and Cahill wasn't able to bail us out by playing lone striker as he had done a few years before in the season we took Jo on loan. We were very short then as well but we got away with it through Cahills tenacity and Fellaini doing a remarkable job of playing off him in his first season. So we have eventually managed to get Jelavic in, at our price range and now it looks as if Moyes is trying to get us more quality options, depth and hopefully pace. Also seems a pre-requisite is to be young, with an ability to play up top and wide.I'm getting ready for a little more flexibility this year. On Hetinga we need to make decision. Its too late to offer a new deal he's moving to 2 years and under on his deal already. He holds all the aces and we lose millions off a player by the next transfer window, a window when its difficult to shift players. Clubs will wait as by next summer he will only have a year left. So we keep him, his value drops as Pienaars did and we lose out on an ability to move in the market and boost the squad, or......we get pragmatic, as we didn't originally with Pienaar, and sell Heitinga. I don't want him to go I rate him highly, but I reckon he would do a Bosman if he could. Its his last big contract coming up.We have shafted ourselves over the Gosling/Yak/Pienaar/Yobo deals costing the club millions and we just cant do it again.Theres no point in having a strategy of, largely, taking players 24/25 and under so they have sell on value and not selling them after they wind down their contracts!! David Chait 51 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:48:55 Spot on Jim... if this happens, its exactly why I mentioned couple days back I hope we look at European talent and not English, as sad as that sounds. Watch this guy might be just a good as an Adam Johnson, but will cost a third of the price. Hope we pick up at least one of the chaps we've been linked with... I'm not sure Moyes would know what to do if we got both Niang and Mirallas. Bobby Thomas 52 Posted 15/08/2012 at 10:02:30 Lets cut to the chase here lads..........any twitter info on what biscuits this Kev Mirallas likes? Phil Sammon 54 Posted 15/08/2012 at 10:08:56 Graham - Ossie's 31 mate. James Morgan 56 Posted 15/08/2012 at 09:42:53 Just seen it on sky about Mirallas, and they report that Niang is at Finch Farm on trial as we speak. Steve Smith 64 Posted 15/08/2012 at 10:27:39 What was that ? you tube could make Anichebe look good ?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BazTE8mStWUNah Jon O'Dell 67 Posted 15/08/2012 at 10:47:43 According to Kevin Mirallas' page on Wikipedia, his current club is Everton and he has the No.10 shirt. Therefore, it must be true...... Geoff Trenner 69 Posted 15/08/2012 at 11:00:22 Graham, not disagreeing with the concern about ages of our squad BUT Ossie is 31 (born May 1981) Chris Morris 72 Posted 15/08/2012 at 11:05:41 David (987) Track back? It's not in his make up. He's all about goals John Audsley 74 Posted 15/08/2012 at 11:05:45 Look,I rent a room off Kev Johnson and can categorically deny Blue Bill has been round to see him. However, Philip Green has been round a couple of times, we played darts and doms last night and had a few Hoffmeisters.Im not buying into this till it happens though. Ernie Baywood 76 Posted 15/08/2012 at 11:09:38 Steve Smith, it may not make him look good but it did make him look determined.Never trust YouTube.Except with Mirallas who is the best player in the world. Gerry Quinn 77 Posted 15/08/2012 at 11:05:39 He may be 31, but Oz moves like he's 33 Keith Glazzard 80 Posted 15/08/2012 at 11:35:26 Have we signed Owen yet? Steve Horvath 88 Posted 15/08/2012 at 12:22:06 Be interesting to see how this Mirallas deal pans out, hes got some nifty footwork for sure. I wonder if this means the pursuit of Luc Castaignos is over? John Feeley 92 Posted 15/08/2012 at 12:34:49 Manny Fernandes with the other half of the money (if Moyes gets it) would be great to see. James Stewart 94 Posted 15/08/2012 at 12:41:58 He has pace and his style is very similar to Ronaldo's in the way he attacks and take players on. Would be very surprised if we got him for 6m! David Chait 96 Posted 15/08/2012 at 12:52:27 yes realised that error in the excitement... no.. afraid we're not going to be wearing silly hats over our Fella wigs this year.. should have read KJ.... apologies for the confusion. Ian Lloyd 99 Posted 15/08/2012 at 13:13:54 So reported on Sky News that we expect tp complete the signing today of Mirallas today and that Niang is having a trial with the blues this week. Anyone know or seen anything of Niang? Tom Rowe 100 Posted 15/08/2012 at 13:22:54 Anyone know when the Belgium game is on? Is it tonight? Might be worth a cheeky watch! Bear in mind that there are younger players which you have barley seen, so you don't know if thwey are more important.Never mind that 336 is not that old for a keeper, and you have not even mentioned Jelavic. Hibbert more important than Jeli? Really?I also give you Barkley, what? 17? Junior about the same, Fellaini, 24.main 11:Howard 33 (you can knock five years off for a keeper in terms of durability)Neville 35 (need to buy a RB in the next 12 months; coleman not good enough there)Heitinga 28Distin 35 (will need to bring in a new CB in next 12 months)Fellaini 24Barkley 17Naismith 25Pienaar 30Coleman/Junior 18-24 (use Rodwell money to get a young real winger)Jelavic 26 Shane Corcoran 124 Posted 15/08/2012 at 14:27:49 It's been elevated to "Sky Sports Understands" status now. Damian Kelly 130 Posted 15/08/2012 at 14:51:36 To be fair roberto (050), 336 is quite old for a keeper Phil Sammon 133 Posted 15/08/2012 at 15:14:57 Remove this from the 'Rumour' section boys, it's now a done deal. £6mil. Seamus Murphy 134 Posted 15/08/2012 at 15:18:33 Talksport reporting it as a done deal:http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/120815/mirallas-agrees-join-everton-arsenal-lose-out-striker-178698?#jgA3ze2VQBDQGjJ4.02 David Chait 135 Posted 15/08/2012 at 15:24:35 Phil McNulty has it on BBC... apparently medical on Thursday... holding thumbs! Shane Corcoran 136 Posted 15/08/2012 at 15:28:10 Between those two links there's nothing new with regards to it being a done deal. Gerry Quinn 137 Posted 15/08/2012 at 15:26:27 Just on a side note regarding players in and out, etc. I was sad to see that Fabrice Muamba, just a short while ago, announced his retirement from football altogether. Shame, but I would imagine we are all thankful that he survived that terrible onfield incident some 6 months ago. I personally wish him well in whatever he chooses to do in the future. Dave Roberts 138 Posted 15/08/2012 at 15:32:08 Sky Sports are reporting that Marillas is to have a medical at Finch tomorrow. The price is reportedly £6m. Anybody know anything about him or how long it may be before we actually see him... or sell him... at a loss? Ken Buckley 139 Posted 15/08/2012 at 15:21:44 My man inside a place near Goodison tells me his mate from the Finch Farm area has told him Mirallas is at this moment awaiting the kick off of his game for Belgium v Holland at 19-45 tonight. Might be best to wait and see if he waves the shirt Matt Traynor 141 Posted 15/08/2012 at 15:38:40 Gerry #083, good shout. I do recall I think that in the weeks after BWFC did say that if he wasn't able to return, they'd have a role for him at the club. Although sad, it's fortunate he was around for a few years in the modern incarnation of the game. Initiatives like the Everton Former Players Foundation are fantastic, but won't be needed surely in a generation from now, if not sooner? Tony Cheek 143 Posted 15/08/2012 at 15:51:19 Just watched him on YT......and yes please we`ll have some of that! Steve King 147 Posted 15/08/2012 at 15:57:12 I'll be praying he doesnt break his leg tonight!!!Mirallas that is.............Sorry KJ! Simon Smith 150 Posted 15/08/2012 at 16:29:09 Can all this talk about new signings on the BBC website be true? And we are not anywhere near deadline day? James Morgan 162 Posted 15/08/2012 at 18:11:33 According to Sky we are hoping to sign Mirallas today! Hurry up Davey! Bobby Mallon 165 Posted 15/08/2012 at 18:22:52 Kim Knightley962. The first line of your second paragraph is a classic. If we pull this guy off, well if we do he should have a smile on his face LOL. Col Noon 169 Posted 15/08/2012 at 18:31:27 This thread has reminded me of how unfunny some fellow Evertoinans are.. anyway back to the OP in regards to this Belgian lad :In a nutshell..delighted if he signs, not the end of the world if he doesn't. Apart from Piennar who can make things happen with the ball, we haven't really got anybody who can dazzle. This lad looks to have all the tricks and a decent goal return, albeit in a weaker league. And for the price that is being touted then its a no brainer. I still have this sneaky feeling that another club will try and rock the boat with this transfer. Ian Lloyd 172 Posted 15/08/2012 at 18:46:11 Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaKevin Antonio Mirallas (born 5 October 1987) is a Belgian footballer who plays football for Everton FC and has previously played for Lille,Saint-Étienne and Olympiacos. He has been capped by Belgium at international level. Ian Glassey 176 Posted 15/08/2012 at 19:20:42 Greg O Keeffe of the echo has said that he wont be here on thursday for medical as the deal is not yet done.Arsenal it is then, just as I was getting excited by things going well. Is,nt it great being a Blue... Mick Davies 177 Posted 15/08/2012 at 19:17:17 After watching clips of Mirallas, it begs the question: why, after getting rid of McFadden and Bilyaletdinov and replacing both with Pienaar, do we need another left winger? Vic is played out there too, as was Arteta and Osman at times. It looks like Naismith likes to drift across there too. When will our one track boss realise we also have a RIGHT SIDE which badly needs addressing. Hibbert is 31 and has never been blessed with pace or (some may say) ability, Neville is 33 and Coleman doesn't look like getting a chance so why don't we spend some of the JR cash on a right back and/or winger? We've had enough of utility players and, with having a small squad there's no point in getting back up for Pienaar when we have enough 'Jack of all trades' to cover him. There must be a decent RB out there looking for a chance to play in the PL, and if we get one, I think the jigsaw will be as complete as it ever has been under DM Gerry Western 182 Posted 15/08/2012 at 20:06:47 Seemingly the Manc's are close to a deal with Arsenal on Van Persie. If so, they'll have a lot of money splashing around so I wouldn't get too excited about this one just yet. Brian Bates 183 Posted 15/08/2012 at 20:00:09 Arsenal accept ManU's bid for van Persie, looks like Kev Johnsons definitely signing for us now!Magic! Si Cooper 185 Posted 15/08/2012 at 20:15:56 I so want something to come from either the interest in Mirallas or Niang (yes, preferably both) to keep the buzz I have got from this thread going. Why not Castaignos as well, not forgetting the modern myth that is Kev 'Custard Cream' Johnson! (JK will do as long as he promises not to sing or dance). Mark Doyle 189 Posted 15/08/2012 at 21:56:07 Check this out: http://t.co/tR2auNyH Nathan Jones 193 Posted 15/08/2012 at 22:19:06 Apparently KJ has signed and the first instructions DM gave him were defensive. Dean Adams 194 Posted 15/08/2012 at 22:30:39 Clive Lewis - he might get a few red cards playing like that in the premier, a bit like Felli did!! Sam Morrison 195 Posted 15/08/2012 at 23:06:40 David and Col, If you object to the thread, why not stop reading? It's not like it's offensive in any way. Seamus Murphy 196 Posted 15/08/2012 at 23:02:40 Great link Steve King!! Albert Perkins 197 Posted 15/08/2012 at 22:48:01 Just watched Johnson playing for England and can understand Mancini's frustration with him. Not bad on the ball, but stands around waiting, not moving into space. Maybe Mancini wants to loan him to us so Moyes can have a go at getting his workrate up. Paul Smith 198 Posted 16/08/2012 at 00:08:24 Good old Twitter, done deal then . Andy Crooks 199 Posted 16/08/2012 at 00:08:52 Roberto, Seamus Coleman has not had a proper chance as a right back at Everton. I called for him to play right mid field because we had no options there and because, like it or not, Hibbert and Neville have right back covered. Seamus Coleman will be a future right back for Ireland and given a run in the position can do the same for Everton. He is a good player with a good attitude and has been very unfairly criticised lately. Suresh Gill 200 Posted 16/08/2012 at 00:39:52 Moysey thinking forward after 10 years (fingers crossed). Let's bring some exciting football this season. COYB Jason Lam 202 Posted 16/08/2012 at 03:22:46 Looks like the perfect understudy to Ossie then. No one can dislodge our maestro not even the Belgium Ronaldo. Pat Finegan 203 Posted 16/08/2012 at 04:44:06 What a great transfer window this will be if we sign both Mirallas and Niang. To sum it up:Out: Cahill (burnt out) Rodwell (stagnating) Drenthe (attitude problem) Strac (love him but he wasn't good enough) and Yobo (hasn't played for us in two years.)In: Naismith (great quality if his knees hold up) Mirallas (pace, technical ability) Pienaar (we all know what he brings) Niang (excellent young player.)That's a massive improvement from our squad last year. There is no reason we shouldn't be pushing for fourth this year... except that it's Everton. We'll find a reason.Cautious optimism, folks, cautious. Peter Thistle 204 Posted 16/08/2012 at 06:58:50 I'm really trying to hold back the optimism and wait until I see official confirmation. How many times have we been burned at the last minute. Fingers crossed that it works out well. Ernie Baywood 205 Posted 16/08/2012 at 07:06:56 Expecting the media to be at LJL to see if anyone besides Moyes and Johnny H get off that plane? Ernie Baywood 206 Posted 16/08/2012 at 07:10:31 Hang on, Dutch media seems to have some comments from the man himself. Anyone know how to translate this entire page? http://www.voetbalnieuws.be/news/33696/Mirallas:_Zeg_zeker_niet_nee_tegen_EvertonThe headline apparently says Mirallas "Certainly not say no to Everton" Ernie Baywood 207 Posted 16/08/2012 at 07:15:48 Starting to figure this interweb thing out... doesn't sound 100%The Red Devil, who currently plays for the Greek Olympiakos Piraeus would stand very close to a transition to the English Premier League. "I definitely say no to Everton but not so. There are clubs interested in me. Those who have already been mentioned (Arsenal and Everton, ed), but also other," he says in the newspaper.According to the Flemish newspaper would be the coach of Everton, David Moyes, Wednesday at the King Baudouin Stadium have been present. "I did not know. The advantage of a team like Everton is that you might have more playing opportunities. Playing together with Marouane would be fun. But for now I leave it up to my agent," he concludes. Chris Morris 208 Posted 16/08/2012 at 07:22:05 RVP going to Man Utd. Mirallas now has an option of European football or Everton Ernie Baywood 209 Posted 16/08/2012 at 07:24:18 I think Arsenal have already replaced RVP... hence they were happy to let him go in the end.But he seems to be inviting others to get involved before it's too late. Chris Morris 210 Posted 16/08/2012 at 07:32:26 Until his signature is secured and he gets the jersey (maybe number 9) then I won't be getting excited. We've been here beforeFool me once; shame on you. Fool me twice; I'm never playing again Chad Schofield 211 Posted 16/08/2012 at 07:36:34 He looks good from the YouTube clips and stats... And a bargain at the price. Anyone know why an international who's scores 20 goals in 25 games going for less than £6M? Is he an idiot or have some kind of criminal past? Ernie Baywood 212 Posted 16/08/2012 at 08:00:23 I'm assuming there's something wrong with him, although I can't speak for the strength of the Greek league. Paul Gladwell 213 Posted 16/08/2012 at 08:20:20 Hes on Sky sports saying he wants to sign for us, that's a first about time we saw stuff like this. Paul David 214 Posted 16/08/2012 at 08:26:49 Just seen an interview with Wenger who says he has already signed 2 replacements for RVP, so sounds like he isn't after another forward. I'm now excited about this signing which probably means he'll end up somewhere else. Aiden Doyle 215 Posted 16/08/2012 at 08:29:28 I'm also a little hesitant, Ernie. On the one hand, Mirallas was the top scorer in Greece last season; on the other, the previous holder of that honour was the magnificent Djibril Cisse... Seamus Murphy 216 Posted 16/08/2012 at 09:03:25 Pretty much says he wants to go to Everton in this interview on SSN..http://yfrog.com/j6ohgzmfwgpufqaclgtcqjbez Chris Leyland 217 Posted 16/08/2012 at 09:35:08 Andy Crooks "Seamus Coleman will be a future right back for Ireland and given a run in the position can do the same for Everton"No offence mate but just because he will be right back for Ireland doesn't mean he will be good enough for Everton in that position. Don't forgot up until recently Kilbane was Ireland's left back, should we re-sign him too?We saw just how good Coleman was at defending with his headless chicken needless tackle in the semi final which set up the shite's winner. Hibbo over Coleman at rightback all day for me. Tony Doran 218 Posted 16/08/2012 at 09:37:02 Fancy's Everton over Arsenal because he needs to be playing everyweek. Let him go somewhere he can get this. No one's place should be nailed on. James Morgan 219 Posted 16/08/2012 at 09:38:32 I've just read that he is leaning towards Everton over Arsenal too lads. Arsenal have got Giroud, Podolski, Carzola, Walcott, Chamberlain as well as Bendtner and Chamakh. I don't think they need him like we do. Fingers crossed this is tied up soon. Paul David 220 Posted 16/08/2012 at 09:47:24 I like the fact he prefers to sign for a club were he thinks he will get more playing time, it points to him not having an ego. How players ( Pienaar and Rodwell spring to mind ) have we seen sign for a supposed bigger club when the whole world can see they are never going to get a game. David Chait 221 Posted 16/08/2012 at 10:14:50 I have been wondering how we can sign this guy for 6m.... then it ocurred to me.. this is a Greek club.. if they run their football like they run their country chances are they need the cash more than we do! Jim Knightley 222 Posted 16/08/2012 at 10:25:31 Players from abroad come in for half or a third of the price of their British counterparts, especially from the 'lesser' leagues. Swansea managed to sign Michu, who scored at a 1 in 2 rate from Midfield in Spain, for 2million this summer. City got Kompany for 6million, Arsenal got Van P for a snip etc etc. There is certainly far better deals on the continent, because British players are over-rated and there are fears over transition etc etc. I personally think it's bonkers to buy talented British players, except from the lower leagues. Ray Roche 223 Posted 16/08/2012 at 10:36:18 Jim, just remind me, we paid HOW much for Fellaini? Graham Tansey 224 Posted 16/08/2012 at 10:38:16 This ain't gonna happen. All these reports saying that he is arriving for a medical today are premature.According to Sky Sports he has said he is not sure where he will be playing yet and is going back to Greece today. Seen it so many times before. If he is unsure then I guarentee he won't come to us.Hopefully I am wrong!! Kieran Fitzgerald 225 Posted 16/08/2012 at 10:40:57 What I'm worried about is the fact that we are going to spend 6m on this guy and over 5m on Niang. That's all the Rodwell money that we got upfront gone. For me this means selling someone else to keep the banks happy before the summer is out. Does that mean someone is already on his way out? Steve King 226 Posted 16/08/2012 at 10:45:15 Kieran,I looked at that possibility from another angle i.e 'Wow they have given Moyes all of the Rodwell money to spend by the looks of things, that's an unexpected and pleasant surprise.....'Now I'm not sure what it means. David Chait 227 Posted 16/08/2012 at 10:48:00 Maybe the banks are happy... figure that! There was a link in one of the forums that we have settled some bonds.. before the cash came in ... so maybe the banks don't need it straight away....How much do you think we would have had to pay for Fellaini had he been English, or we had not bought him 30 seconds before the deadline. Terry McLavey 228 Posted 16/08/2012 at 11:02:56 Impressive You Tube video, reminds of Ranaldo(!! how do you spell it ! well you know who I mean!) Does he really want to come to us?! Looks like he was allowed to play where he wants? That'll change !! Hope he comes to us as he looks exciting but we don't keep good players do we? as the £ signs light up in BK eyes! Would delete the video though in case Shitty,Manure or Arsenil get to see it !! Think we may have a good season though, we are due one COYB! Jamie Barlow 229 Posted 16/08/2012 at 11:25:38 I've got an uneasy feeling about this. I'll believe it when I see him wearing the shirt. Tony Sullivan 230 Posted 16/08/2012 at 11:57:18 Have we given up on Riquelme then? Tony J Williams 231 Posted 16/08/2012 at 12:05:33 He reminds me of Ronaldo too, the way he dived for that penalty and rolled over a few times. We may need a bit of that to actually get a pen.Expect a Sisssokokokoko moment, 10 minutes before signing old turkey face Wenger decides he does want him after all and offers half a mill more.As above, if we spend the £11m, we will sell someone else Matt Traynor 232 Posted 16/08/2012 at 12:35:34 Tony #375, you sound like someone who really needs the new season to start!I saw the video, and lots of the same clips from different camera angles. I saw lots of skill, but also Beagrie-esque tendencies to beat the man, go back and beat him again etc. Wonder if he has a motorbike? Danny Broderick 233 Posted 16/08/2012 at 12:36:30 Remember, Man City have paid £12 million up front for Rodwell. I would bet my last dollar that if we buy someone, it will be on the never never. A couple of million down payment with the rest payable over the next few years. Then the board can spin things to look like we have invested more than we actually have this summer, and when we have got no money next year, only then will it come out that we are still paying for him. It's what they did with Fellaini... Alasdair Mackay 234 Posted 16/08/2012 at 12:39:07 Just because we have got the entire £12m up front for Rodwell, doesn't mean we are paying all the money up front for Mirallas and/or Niang.I should imagine we would only need to offer £2m up front for each one; with the rest in installments over the next three transfer windows - giving us plenty of time to raise the cash. Danny Halsall 235 Posted 16/08/2012 at 12:51:03 Im with Jamie (365), I feel a bit uneasy about the whole thing. I'll only believe we have got him when something appears on our official site. Seems to be a lot of ifs, buts and maybes. I rate the guy though, seems pacy, tricky winger with an eye for goal, would be a very useful addition. Saw him earlier in the year at Wembley vs England and he was a handful that day. And for the reported £5.3 million must be worth the gamble. Ok he has been playing in the greek superleague, but he scored 20 in 24 apps and won player of the season. Not bad? Jonathan Tasker 236 Posted 16/08/2012 at 13:05:14 A lot of supporters are incredibly naive.I don't believe a word about any proposed transfers- just because it is in a newspaper , that doesn't give it credibility.I reckon Moyes will have to settle for the usual last minute Royston type loans. Why do the media fall over themselves to report "signings" such as this? Frank Knight 237 Posted 16/08/2012 at 13:04:26 Niang on a season loan with option to buy, mirallas with cash from Rodwell. So 15m in through Cahill, Rodwell and yobo, 9.8m on mirallas and pienaar, wages sorted through releases, 5m to the bank and decent line up for the season. Looks simple on paper! Niang works out, well let's hope Rodwell triggers a few risers otherwise ..... Steve King 238 Posted 16/08/2012 at 13:13:50 Jonathan,Normally I would agree with you, there's so much bollocks and speculation written and talked about in the media!! But the reason people are excited about this one is that the player himself has said there has been an offer and he wants to come to Everton. However I don't think any of us will believe it until we see him running out to the Z Cars. Karl Masters 239 Posted 16/08/2012 at 12:40:52 People worrying we will spend all the Rodwell money this week on two players may have a point, but I think you are forgetting that transfer fees are only part of the equation, the other is wages.Cahill was reputedly on £75k a week, nearly £4m a year. Now off our wage bill.In the last year we have sold players thusYak. £2m and £60k a weekBeckford . £4m and £30k a weekArteta. £10m and £80k a weekCahill. £1m and £75k a weekRodwell £17m and £50k a weekBaxter. Zero and £15k a a weekVarious loan players have come and gone.We have brought in or hopefully will bring inGibson £1.5m and £45k a weekJelavic. £5m and £60k a weekPienaar. £4.5m and £55k a weekMirallas. £5.5m and £50k a weekNing. £6m and £45k a week£34m sold against £22.5m spent£310k a week off the wage bill and £255k a week on it equals £2.8m a year saved in wages. Throwing that we have lost £5m in that time and in the br oadest terms the club is still ahead by 9.3m with a lower wage bill going forward. I would think the Bank Manager would be happy with that. Jem Traynor 240 Posted 16/08/2012 at 13:14:41 @ Ernie #283,Thanks for the translation, if true this will put it up in the air til we hear something but It is good to be linked with these player's and hopefully something will come of the reports. Both great player's unproven know when it comes to the Premier league but you do get a good vibe from the possibility of them wearing Royal Blue, Hope they happen with time to get know whats left if we don't so we can look elswhere! Karl Masters 241 Posted 16/08/2012 at 13:33:39 I forgot the to add in Naismith, Yobo and Bily so adding in £7.5m in transfer fees for those two take away £1.5m for Naismith and Steven's wages cancelling out Bily's and the situation is even better with a surplus of £15.3m on transfers and a wage bill nearly £3m a year less.I appreciate fees are staggered etc, and wages are only an informed guess, but I still see our financial situation as much better than twelve months ago so hopefully no more enforced sales. Andrew Ellams 242 Posted 16/08/2012 at 14:35:44 Does anybody other than the sugar daddy clubs stump up multi million pound transfer fees in one payment? I would guess not Jem Traynor 243 Posted 16/08/2012 at 14:57:22 To the Admin,Book mark's to this shite, sorry site have been deleted!!tara.... Kristian Boyce 244 Posted 16/08/2012 at 15:05:37 I would imagine the Greeks would want a larger portion paid up front if we make a deal for him. I think the economic issues in that country are partly the reason we are getting him for a decent price. I recall that AEK had sold a number of players before the Hibbert game due to money woes. Ian Glassey 245 Posted 16/08/2012 at 16:27:03 I have gone from buzzing yesterday to down and out, in the space of 24hrs.Ithink this Marallas lad wants to go to Arsenal and is just waiting for them to come back in for him. money will tell in the end.... Shane Corcoran 246 Posted 16/08/2012 at 16:36:49 That'll teach you Ian. You also forgot that Arsenal have just lost their main striker. Still, it passed the time. Can't wait for Owen now. Pity we missed out on Saha. Ben Jones 247 Posted 16/08/2012 at 16:43:44 Karl, think youre a bit inaccurate with your wages mate.A 17 year old on 45k a week?! Remember we're skint!Doubt Gibson and Jelavic are on wages that high as well. Mark Tanton 248 Posted 16/08/2012 at 16:53:34 The indications are he prefers us to Arsenal - I guess we'll have to wait and see, but we don't things easily or quickly so perhaps we should check back on line at the end of next week. Mark Tanton 249 Posted 16/08/2012 at 16:53:34 The indications are he prefers us to Arsenal - I guess we'll have to wait and see, but we don't things easily or quickly so perhaps we should check back on line at the end of next week. Chad Schofield 250 Posted 16/08/2012 at 17:01:43 Jem Traynor @411, what was that flounce for? Jim Knightley 251 Posted 16/08/2012 at 17:06:30 Ray? do you disagree with my point, or are you just trying to be argumentative by picking up on one example? We paid 15million. Less than Liverpool did for Henderson, Carroll or Downing (similar 'youthful talent') and City did Milner etc etc. Karl, I think your wages are a bit off mate. Jelavic is not on 60,000 a week, and there are a few others seem inaccurate. I am a bit worried about Mirallas...he is extremely cheap for someone with his record, and both Spurs and Arsenal can offer bigger wages and better prospects for Champions League football. I'm really hopeful, but I am a tad worried that Modric and Van P's sales may affect us negatively. Mark Doyle 252 Posted 16/08/2012 at 16:56:56 My head tells me he'll sign. But my gut feeling is that we always mess this kind of transfer up. Arshavin? Joao Moutinho? We were interested, they were interested, look what happened. Those transfers may or may not have worked out admittedly but that's not the point.
