Be brilliant to see us go there and bag a win. Paul Mackie 2 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:00:20 YES! I live in Leeds and will most definitely be getting tickets to this. I fricking hate Leeds United with a fiery passion. I want to see us absolutely destroy them. Mark Lennon 3 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:00:06 Proper cup tie that'll be. COYB John Audsley 4 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:04:30 Paul MackieI live 6 miles from that ground and I back you up 100% with thatHad stick from them since Aug 1990 at Goodison when I was just 15horrible set of fuckwits Phil Sammon 5 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:14:30 How many Leeds guys have we got here?! I live in Stanningley. David Nelson 6 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:21:39 Bogey team for 50 odd years....3-0 Everton John Crook 7 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:24:07 If Sky do the sensible thing and avoid the West Brom v The Shite and Man Utd Reserves v Newcastle... then surely this should be the TV game on Sky for the 3rd round? It's made for a live match. Reckon we will edge it at Elland Road. Paul David 8 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:28:08 It says on the OS that in Leeds last season in the top flight we beat them 4 nil at Goodison with Steve Watson scoring a hattrick. How the hell did Watson score 3, I don't remember it. Alan Rodgers 9 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:33:30 Watto played centre forward that day courtesy of Walter Smith ! We were a bit short on numbers at the time . Roberto Birquet 10 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:32:44 I lived in Leeds for almost a year, and liked the place. Or maybe I liked living in the uni quarter of Leeds 6; partyland. But Leeds fans were the worst I've seen. Saw a Forest lad, or maybe there were two, set upon by about 100 in the town centre. A frantic woman looked round screaming, "someone do something". Against 100 thugs? What exactly? Bloody mindless nutters, and one horrible, classless Bates as owner (always assuming he is the owner). But only been to Elland Rd to see Spain France. Leeds was good that day: what a town centre roar when Seaman saved Gary Mac's pen! Alan Rodgers 11 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:38:23 ....or did I dream that ? only joking it was in the Moyes era with Dunc on the field and McFadden making his debut as I recall. Jim Knightley 12 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:37:45 I remember the hattrick but I don't remember it being against Leeds! Difficult draw but at least it's not premiership opposition. And if we get through, a fair few of the premiership teams will be out. Let's hope we put a good team out, as we have a good chance of winning this cup. John Audsley 13 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:44:14 The Watson hatrick was class, watched that in the Upper Bullens in 2003. To be fair to LUFC they have beed fucked over by dodgy owners and firesales ever since then. Let's hope that never happens under Blue Bill's watch........... Danny Burke 14 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:43:55 I'll have to try and get tickets for this. I live in dirty Leeds at the moment also. Last time I was at Elland Road it was 1-1 with Rooney and Milner the scorers. And I missed the Rooney goal because my mate didn't listen to me about how bad the traffic gets and we were late. Leeds fans, horrible, once witnessed a massive brawl when Cardiff came to town. David Booth 15 Posted 30/08/2012 at 22:53:50 Rawdon here and have hated Leeds all my football life.Even if Everton lose, if Leeds do too then I can live with it.Can't wait to dump them on their arrogant arses. Tom Bowers 16 Posted 30/08/2012 at 23:16:12 That last Leeds game was in 2003 and featured Rooney but McFadden had a blinder that day. He never played that well again. Barry Rathbone 17 Posted 30/08/2012 at 23:20:13 Remember the all conquering Leeds of the 70s – best club side I ever saw - remarkable chokers on the big occasion though.Even me dad the most mild mannered of men said they were dirty, I honestly thought they just gave what they got.Eddie Gray on the wing, makes Cristiano Ronaldo look like an ale house player. Andy Crooks 19 Posted 31/08/2012 at 00:18:03 This is good for Everton. It seems like a big game but isn't. They are a really poor side. The predicament of Leeds is a bit of a dilemma; they were the most hateful side that ever kicked a ball but ..yet, their divine punishment seems utterly out of proportion. Ken Bates? No one deserves that. Also,David O'Leary. A proper gent, all round good egg but,, I wouldn't allow him to run the cage of my granddaughters's hamster Peter Thistle 20 Posted 31/08/2012 at 01:32:39 Seems werd to see us drawn away in a cup game, got used to seeing us at home every time. Paul Ferry 21 Posted 31/08/2012 at 02:15:32 Last time we played Leeds away in a cup... am I wrong? FA Cup 3rd round, they were not not yet in the top flight. And it was a Friday night, I'm sure about that, early rejigging TV days. We won. It was a brutal atmosphere outside after the final whistle, Leeds everywhere, nasty. Got out without a scratch, ended up getting hammered in a local alehouse with decent Leeds fans and 2 cars of us – Z-Cars of us!!! Conor Skelly 22 Posted 31/08/2012 at 02:21:39 Andy my experience of O'Leary is an arse hole. Mind you I was a 12 year old boy from Dublin saying hello to him in Manchester airport. How dare I. sounds like a proper cup tie does this. Would love to go if anyone knows where to get tickets. Kiern Moran 24 Posted 31/08/2012 at 02:33:51 I was thinking that too Peter, Everton should make an official complaint to the FA. Its totally unacceptable. Chris Hooson 26 Posted 31/08/2012 at 07:53:32 I am in Chapel Allerton with my son Jacob, we both support the mighty toffees.... Tony J Williams 27 Posted 31/08/2012 at 09:31:31 My brother in law is a massive Leeds fan.... this could get interesting! Jimmy Sørheim 28 Posted 31/08/2012 at 09:52:35 Do not kid yourselves, Leeds will be a tough game away from home. They have a striker who is on form right now, and they will fight very hard to win the game.I think we will win, but it will be tight for sure. John Audsley 29 Posted 31/08/2012 at 11:23:46 Well, I'm in Rothwell with my two Blue boys and a kinda Blue wife.Got Chris in East Ardsley and Ben in Robin Hood so plenty of Blues about I reckon! Ben McCann 30 Posted 31/08/2012 at 09:55:39 I'm absolutely chuffed to bits with this...! I've lived in Leeds since coming here for uni as an 18yr old in 1996 - great city, horrible, stupid fans. Been to every game Everton have played at Elland Rd since '96 - unfortunately had to go in the home end on a few occasions, and once had the extreme misfortune to hear them shouting racist abuse at Danny Cadamarteri at the same time as having a number of black players in their own team (not that if they didn't it would somehow be ok, just shows the depth of ignorance). I was at Elland Rd last time we played in April '04. I had the company season tickets and was in the Director's box. At the end of the game I've got my fists cleched in the air in isolated celebration, surrounded by grumpy Leeds fans. I looked around hoping to see the odd Blue...sure enough I turned around to see the great Brian Labone (RIP) with a great crimson smiling face, shaking his fists in front of him. For 5 seconds or we just stared at other, fists shaking screaming 'YEEEEEEEEESSS'. A precious memory for me. Jon Ferguson 31 Posted 31/08/2012 at 14:22:43 I lived in Leeds for 4 years. I don't rate it as a place to live. I always felt like they were desperate to be Manchester (as a city) whilst at the same time hating Manchester. Anyone who is an imitation Manc fails to win my respect. Strangely, despite not liking the city much and thinking Leeds fans are awful I have a strange soft spot for them. Probably as we could have suffered a similar fate. I'd like to see them back I'm the Prem. I hope we run riot on them in the cup. Steve Boardman 32 Posted 31/08/2012 at 14:54:20 I have never forgiven them for kicking lumps out of us in the infamous game in the sixties. Described in "60 Games that shook Goodison" as follows:The Battle of Goodison” was an ugly game, pockmarked with violence, and staggers onto this list with “love” and “hate” tattooed on its knuckles. The adage was that if you stood up to Leeds they bit back twice as hard. At Goodison that afternoon not only did the Everton players stand up to them, but the crowd did too. Throughout the game angry faces in the stands were clenched like fists.Famously, a tackle by Willie Bell on Derek Temple knocked him out cold; Brian Labone later told writer James Corbett that they thought Bell had killed him. After the “tackle” – and the howls from an increasingly feral crowd, referee Spokes escorted the two teams off the field for a cooling off period.Cushions, hats, and all manner of debris were tossed onto the pitch – Leeds players feared a lynching – and winger Albert Johanneson was flecked with racist phlegm. Amidst the carnage, Leeds managed to score. This is a lesson that history isnt always written by the victors; Leeds had won the battle of Goodison; but they went on to be remembered as the bullies. Everton evolved into “The Three Graces”, with the saintly skills of Alex Young. Leeds were to become infamous for their brutally successful football; more totalitarian than total.
