Niang claims: 'Milan better than Everton'

, 8 September, 31comments  |  Jump to most recent
M'Baye Niang played with the Milan youth team today and insists he “definitely made the right decision” turning down Everton for Milan, suggesting perhaps he was not treated with sufficient 'respect'...

The French striker was a summer swoop from Caen and has already made his Serie A debut as a substitute, after spending the better part of a week on Merseyside before turning down the charms of training at Finch Farm. “I definitely made the right decision choosing Milan and turning down the Everton option. I was welcomed with kindness and respect by the whole locker room." Perhaps the Premier League banter was not to his liking...

So says the summer signing we missed out on. Before we bemoan our loss, however, take a quick look at this youth team run out:

It might just be that he ain't good enough for Everton and Milan have saved us from a dodgy bit of business.

Looks a bit slow and has a bit of the Anichebe attitude to me.

Jeez it really is a case of too much too soon with some of these young players. Fast cars (with tragic results recently), money, and they haven't even kicked a ball for the 1st team.

Is it any wonder why so many of them have an attitude? Even if they don't make it, they're millionaires now. I know he's gone now, but it'll be a long time before we see someone with the hunger, desire and passion like Cahill had.

Best he's gone to a club with a "locker room".

Let's be honest, he's not going to say "I wish I'd signed for Everton" if he's gone to Milan, is he? Let's see where he is in 5 years time. If he's made it, that is.

He's so full of crap, I'm glad we didn't get him. How would want a player so far up his own ass, he joined his dream club and doesn't need to dis our club.

Glad to see your back little twat. wonder if you would ever get a game in the first team. Will hear you again when you are shipped out without playing a game.

Agree with Ray. What else the kid going to say? Kind of a stretch to think anything said disrespectful.

He picked the wrong team. Sure as hell, he picked the wrong league!

On the other hand, I hear one can really supplement one's wages in Serie A. Even if caught, slap on the wrist stuff.

Can understand the exultations to his new club it's only to be expected, can't see why he'd put the boot in here without reason though.

Does make you wonder.

Let's see where the lad is in 2 years, a slug in the Milan system regretting his move, transferred/loaned out or in their starting 11. I'd say either #1 or #2...

No shit Milan are better than us. However, we are better than some dopey 17yr old with his head up his arse.

To be fair to the lad it is only natural he would say he made the correct decision joining Milan. If he had chosen us he would be saying the exact same thing.

Why should foreign players treat our club like some kind of sacred cow anyway? To them, we're just another club and they owe us nothing. His loss, but good luck to the lad!

Yes, he's made the right choice there, a club riddled with financial chicanery that only Steven Hawking could have made sense of: a Machiavellian fascist president who spends more on adolescent prostitutes than his club: and a fallen giant playing in a stagnant league in a country on the verge of financial meltdown. Oh well, he hasn't got too far to go to beg for divine assistance when it all falls down.

Why oh why do these uneducated retards, fresh out of nappies, have to respond to parasitic reporters when asked provocative questions? Who knows, one day he may even be good enough for a move to the PL and we can all let him know our history, and give him a good old Goodison welcome after all...

Not sure he says much wrong to be honest. Unless there is more to the quote I haven't seen. He says Milan was the right choice over us and the locker room welcomed him. Maybe he could have just said Milan was the right choice and not mentioned us but really not worth getting worked up about.

I think we should cut the lad some slack. He was probably asked by an Italian Journalist "Are you glad you came to Milan" and "have you been welcomed into the dressing room" and the questions edited out and made it look like he has just made the statements. He is very young and he will learn to avoid these type of highjack questions in the future. Good luck to him I hope he avoids serious injury, develops and progressess well through the Milan system and has a good career.

I can't believe anyone would prefer the boulevards of Milan to County Road. Well it's his loss!

I agree with Danny Burke. If you look at what he is reported to have said, there is nothing in there which is disrespectful to Everton.

If he'd have signed for us I'd have expected him to have said exactly the same thing and we'll never know which club would've actually been best for him.

Just seems to be journo's wanting to report something more than is there.

A 17-year-old going on about respect? Sounds like a scene from Kevin and Perry.

After reading the article, I was going to post something similar to Danny, Philip and Wayne - but then I read their posts and they got there first so there's very little to add - other than that I agree!

Agree with Gavin. What else was he gonna say?

The Italian isn't at the standard of the premier league so he will properly have it easier there.

Was a lot of money for us for a kid who'll spend a season in the reserves. Watched up to the 38 min on the video and was bored. Agree that what little money we had we spent wisely on players who will push for a first team place.

FFS lads...if the shoe doesn't fit don't put it on. Just cos the lad says he was welcomed with kindness and respect by Milan doesn't automatically mean that he felt he was received badly at Everton.

Silvio probably tempted the young lad with private parties in his underground mansion. I doubt that Bill's parties are anywhere as interesting.

Matt, Plenty hunger, desire and passion are often there to seen in the likes of Ossie, Capt Pip and Tony 'He scores when he wants' Hibbo. Despite his hopefully misquoted remarks, if Fellaini can knuckle down and show more of the Utd game (rather than the WBA game) performances, then we will have a talisman that can inspire and lift the whole team to 4th this season methinks.

City, Utd and Chelsea are probably nailed on for first three (though I would not be surprised if the wheels came off DiMateo's Chavskis), but other than them, due to real problems with all other CL pretenders, it is there for the taking this season. A win against the Barcodes can set us back on to the winning streak. We'll finish 4th and then lose the CL play-off again knowing our luck!
