Season › 2012-13 › News Fifa hands Naismith two-match ban Lyndon Lloyd , 5 October, 6comments | Jump to most recent Steven Naismith has been handed a two-match ban by Fifa after a disciplinary panel found him guilty of elbowing Serbia's Srdjan Mijailovic while playing for Scotland last month. The panel used video evidence from the two countries' goalless World Cup qualifier and elected to suspend him from Scotland's next two games, against Wales in Cardiff on 12 October and Belgium in Brussels on 16 October. Scotland manager Craig Levein said: "Obviously this is disappointing news, but Steven has been very honest and professional throughout the disciplinary process." Disclaimer Sean McKenna 1 Posted 05/10/2012 at 19:31:58 Naismith has been a bit of a let down so far, he hasn't produced much even though he works his socks off. Hopefully he can catch a bit of form and kick on and add a few goals to the team. Christopher Kelly 2 Posted 05/10/2012 at 20:34:52 "Honest and professional???" your 'avin a laugh! He raised his elbow and whooped the guy like The Rock! Honest and professional give me a break James Flynn 3 Posted 05/10/2012 at 21:39:59 Christ - Not what I saw on the tape. But, unlike a pope, I can't speak for you ex cathedra. Brent Stephens 4 Posted 05/10/2012 at 21:53:39 Chris, it says "throughout the disciplinary process". Alan Clarke 5 Posted 06/10/2012 at 06:56:00 Does anyone know a bit more about whether Naismith is any good? I never watched him at Rangers so can't judge him too much. Whenever I've seen him for Scotland, he's looked average and missed a good chance in the first of their qualifiers. He's looked poor for us especially against Leeds. Is he just out of form? Can anyone shed a bit more light on what he'll actually offer us? Alexander Sterpikov 6 Posted 08/10/2012 at 10:24:49 He played well in Hibbo's testimonial match, scoring three fine goals as I recall. Since then he hasn't produced much.
