Season › 2012-13 › News No live Everton games on ESPN Michael Kenrick , 14 October, 24comments | Jump to most recent Despite being in the top four as they attempt to surpass their best ever start in the Premier League, Everton are one of the teams ignored in the latest set of live fixtures to be broadcast terrestrially in the UK by ESPN with eight more games scheduled through the end of December 2012. "It's the world's greatest football league, and it's live on ESPN. We've got 23 live matches and all the big names. As the balance of power continues to shift at the top of the table, it's going to be a fascinating season. Simply unmissable." — so says the blurb, but Everton are apparently not part of it... Disclaimer Ian Dickson 1 Posted 14/10/2012 at 21:42:57 Long may it continue, all the sweeter when we gatecrash the top four and ESPN will have no choice (surely) to broadcast us!!!! Andy Amey 2 Posted 14/10/2012 at 22:45:40 Good. A few less stupid kick off times. Patrick Murphy 3 Posted 14/10/2012 at 23:10:01 I totally agree with Andy, half five on a Saturday is a totally ridiculous KO time , but ESPN (Everton Scheduled Probably Never) is the most valuable vehicle for our lovable neighbours. I don't know if they are on much in the coming months , but with KD's daughter , John Barnes , Kevin Keegan et al they are certainly no lovers of the Blue half of Merseyside. Glen Anderson 4 Posted 15/10/2012 at 00:07:06 "We've got ... All the big names"??? Obviously not. Tom Dodds 5 Posted 15/10/2012 at 00:55:10 I've got ESPN on a free till December.... I will cancel in November. Peter Thistle 6 Posted 15/10/2012 at 03:01:29 If it means I don't have to listen to John Fuckwit Barnes then I'm happy. Julian Wait 7 Posted 15/10/2012 at 05:15:27 Ray Stubbs is a blue, no? Pablo Brown 8 Posted 15/10/2012 at 06:28:54 Stubbs is a Tranmere fan, he played for them for 5 years. Norman Merrill 9 Posted 15/10/2012 at 07:53:38 I am sure most EFC fans don't give a toss, not being on a Mickey Mouse channel. Gavin Ramejkis 10 Posted 15/10/2012 at 08:23:39 Like it or loathe it with Kenshite in charge the club needs as much income on a plate as necessary, he's proven he can't organise a piss up in a brewery so missing out on TV income even if it does mean a shit kick off time is bad for the business. Andrew Ellams 11 Posted 15/10/2012 at 12:58:18 If there are financial implications then a complaint should be registered with OFCOM/The FA/EPL, as this gives ESPN the power to reward/favouritise certain clubs over others. I know Sky can do this as well, but at least they have a clause in their deal which ensures all clubs a minimum number of games per season therefore receive some income. If there are no financial implications ie. the money comes in as part of the annual payout from Sky anyway then we should deny ESPN any acess to Goodison Park from now on. This is their last season anyway isn't it? Philip Quilliam 12 Posted 15/10/2012 at 13:52:01 Gavin can I just refer you to another thread where Eugene flagged up the potential pitfalls in dragging a thread into a direction that is not relevant. Your assertions regarding "Kenshite"(sic) is a case in point and may be you are just baiting a trap to illict a response because with our perforfmances this season truly warranting wider coverage they don't seem to belong here. Tony Hanlon 13 Posted 15/10/2012 at 14:44:15 Maybe BT vision will spread the coverage more evenly next season......Doubt it though Brian Cleveland 14 Posted 15/10/2012 at 14:50:44 Actually, in Latin America we've already been live on ESPN more times this season than the whole of last season I think. Between ESPN and Fox Sports I think I've managed to see all our games so far (including the Leeds game unfortunately!), albeit with absolutely crappy commentary!!It seems out here people are finally starting to notice us a little bit.... John Siffor 15 Posted 15/10/2012 at 17:00:37 Brian is right. They've been on as much as anyone else thus far in the US. They are developing a following in the US. Its not just Liverpool & Man Utd anymore... Ken Buckley 16 Posted 15/10/2012 at 19:39:34 Chelsea seem to be out of favour too. James Ford 17 Posted 15/10/2012 at 19:55:04 What type of Mickey Mouse company are they (oh, someone beat me to it) Brian Cleveland 18 Posted 15/10/2012 at 22:12:06 Generally, the more Latino's you have in the team the more coverage you get down here! So, if you're a Wigan fan you get to see just about all of their games.... that's what comes of buying a few Latinos.... maybe we should give it a go... Suarez anyone? ;-) Brian Kendrick 19 Posted 16/10/2012 at 09:48:04 This latest decision by ESPN for coverage of fixtures through to end December with Everton not being featured doesn't surprise me in the slightest. The reason is quite simple. We are not liked by TV, the media and the press. This isn't a recent issue, this goes back years. Millwall bang the drum about nobody liking them but I've felt like that with Everton for a very long time. But hey, that's their problem. If they don't want to cover our current brand of football which is the best I have seen since the Holy Trinity era then it's their loss. Lee Smith 20 Posted 16/10/2012 at 10:56:03 On the flip side, 6 of our first 11 games in all competions will have been screened live on Sky Sports this season (Man U, Newcastle, Swansea, Leeds, QPR, Liverpool). Also our festive games against Chelsea and Newcastle will be on Sky. I cannot remember another season where we have been on anywhere near that regularly! Col Wills 21 Posted 16/10/2012 at 13:49:00 There's always an illicit boozer with fit bar maids to watch the away games at...... James Flynn 22 Posted 16/10/2012 at 16:19:15 Agree with Brian and John. Over here 3 of our first 5 EPL games were on regular ESPN. Just had to flip on the TV. Not to shabbly. Jonathan Ford 23 Posted 17/10/2012 at 14:56:34 Here in the South UK, loads of us quit ESPN a couple of season ago when they actually advertised that they were the Liverpool FC channel screening about six weeks in a row of their games. Saved me a lot of cash and I hope they never show us again. Stick to Sky and go down the pub on the very rare occasion they show us on semi final day (If you can't get a ticket that is).COYB Brian Cleveland 24 Posted 18/10/2012 at 14:29:51 For those of you (if anyone) in Latin America, our game this weekend at QPR will also be shown live on Fox sports (Sunday 10.00am Colombian time).
