Jealous Jol wants Everton credit

Martin Jol, manager of Everton's next opponents, Fulham, wants his side to be given the same sort of credit that Everton have received, despite always hanging on Everton's coattails in the Premier League.

He said: “I think we should have had credit last year as we did the same as Everton and we almost did the same until two or three games before the end.

“We lost our best players and we changed the midfield to a different style but we still like to play our style.

“Even with Chris Baird who was not a midfield player all the time. Dembele was more like a forward player.

“Sometimes it's a necessity to change things to go my way.”

And all that with Andy Johnson. Do they still have Davies, Pembridge, Collins, Moore and Radzinski?

I bet they've spent more than we have in the past couple of seasons. I would say that Fulham are a good family style club and wish them no ill... apart from Saturday of course.

"Had they been able to hold onto an away lead in their last two games they'd be three points off Manchester City."

...and if they win every game they'd be Champions

He'll shut up when he gets his customary hammering from us on Saturday

We've been up there for the better part of 10 years punching above our weight. They've been doing it for 10 minutes (okay 3 or 4 years). But give me a break you smug, waffle eating pot smoking, fatty. We've been the "best of the rest" for many a season whereas they've consistently finished behind us. Speaks more to the low quality and difficulties in fielding a consistent mid table team in the EPL.

And sadly, neither us nor them will be playing Champions League football next season I'm afraid...

Christopher Kelly (134) - "give me a break you smug, waffle-eating, pot-smoking, fatty".

Doffs cap.

I remember Jol as a gangly, sharp jawed hatchet man roaming the midfield when he played for West Brom 30 years ago.

Anybody who doesn't remember or is too young should google him and you'll be amazed. Perhaps somebody can explain how this 'honed athlete' turned into a baldy, pot-bellied, chubby cheeked, Humpty Dumpty of a man.

It's almost a form of metamorphosis, a quite remarkable example for physiological study.

Does anyone else on here 100% hate Jol's voice? It's horrible. A ghost whisperer and then rises to this gutty croak. It's got to the point on TV that I turn the sound down when his jowly mug fills my 37" screen.

Am I alone? Am I being paranoid? If there was a vote for the creepiest voice among Prem managers? I drift back to the blissful cloudless cocoon of my Crosby Ursuline infancy wrapped up in parental protection and then the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang child capturer scared the shit out of me and then behind the Man About the House sofa when the daleks came on. That's Jol, I swear, that's Jol.

Don't mind him as a manager to be honest and think he got shafted at Spurs where he was doing a decent job. To be fair to Fulham they aren't badly ran and aren't the nastiest fans out there either, a poor man's Chelski.

I actually respect him as a manager who speaks his mind and he has a touch of humour as well. I think he is paying a compliment to Everton when he says that he would like Fulham to be talked of in the same breath as Everton. Wishful think on his part, but I am sure he does not mean any malice towards Everton.

All he is saying is that he sees us as the benchmark for all of those clubs that don't have a gazillionaire benefactor

When you have done it for as long as we have, then you will get credit.

Until then... fuck off.

Agree Ajay and Andy
Don't see the problem here, if anything, it's a compliment.

Agreed here as well. I've always found Jol a class act, and Fulham an honest side that makes no excuses.

Yeah, he seems like a nice fella now, but he was a narky player who put in tackles Suarez would cream his pants over. Then he left West Brom and disappeared for twenty years before returning to Spurs. Judging by his appearance he had spent that twenty years locked in a biscuit factory....

Nah, Karl (#139) he wasn't a honed athlete. I remember him playing for West Brom and he always gave me the impression he was a fat fucker waiting to happen. Looks like he's spent 25 years down the red light area sampling one too many shoarmas and space cake, coming out with idiotic statements like that. One thing's certain though – that'll be a tough game down at the Cottage

Paul ( 225 ) give him a break. He learnt English from Steve McLaren
