Mirallas to miss Reading trip

It looks as though Kevin Mirallas will only miss the weekend trip to Reading after scans on his hamstring injury revealed just a grade one tear.

Speculation by the Mail and rumour on Merseyside suggested yesterday that "Everton feared" the 25 year-old would miss the remainder of the month with a grade two muscle tear but he is expected to be fit for the visit of Norwich on 24th November.

Mirallas has pulled out of Belgium's squad for their friendly this week after limping out of Saturday's win over Sunderland.

Thank fuck for that!

If that's case then put him on the bench against Norwich and give him a run-out towards the end so he is ready for the Arsenal game... we could do with pulling away from them.

Play Oviado. A perfect match to give him a run out and give him the belief,if needed, that he can do it in the PL.

Hope to God they don't rush him back too quickly. The club has a bit of recent history for such action.

I would think Naismith will be on the right against Reading then.
Straight swap and the least upsetting to the team. If it isn't going to plan, swap Pienaar to the right and bring Oviedo on for Naismith.

Agreed Mr. Barlow.

Peanuts could use a shake up as well, possibly.

RB for Neville, Coleman RM and Hizlespiggle for DMC... nah, too many changes for Moyes, as the Barlow says.

Hibbo RB Coleman RW, Naismith was Woeful against Sunderland at least Coleman offers some pace going forward. If Moyes wants to give Naismith some game time has to be behind Jelavic.

All sounds like a lot of changes to me and cant see it happening. I really do believe that Moyes will only make one or two changes, and we shouldn't take too much for granted against Reading as we have to often in the past failed to take the "easy" points.

My prediction is that Naismith will slot in to the Mirallas role and the rest will remain unchanged, I hope that Coleman is left at right back as he does seem to be developing there. All that said it would be good to see Hitz get some game time at the expense of Nevil and would also like to see Oviedo and Aspostolos given more than 5-10 mins at the end maybe even some more time with two up front which really changed the look of the game saturday.

And yes Kevin Oviedo did impress, a very different option to Pienarr down the left.

Very impressive. Great touches that show a lot of talent and a bit of guile. Hopefully he's getting bedded in with the team and can contribute soon.

Time will tell with Oviedo; he did look good against Liverpool but they had a terrible right back. Oviedo was bought as a RB so let's not fall into the Coleman trap of thinking because they're fast and can get to the line they can play out wide. Coleman was ripping Gareth Bale a new one but then had a year of looking very very ordinary once teams had worked his direct style out. The best widemen, like Pienaar and Mirallas, have a bit of everything about them.

I know Naismith divides opinion, but one thing I will say for him is he has a goalscorer's instinct. His hat-trick on debut, the goal against the RS, his miss at Leeds, then his misses against Fulham... things seem to drop to him and he's in the right place. Yes, he's missing a lot of the chances but that sort of natural goal-poacher's instinct is only really seen in Jelavic in our team. You can see why they scored so many for Rangers.

When Mirallas is not in the team and we can't balance up the flanks as well, Naismith drifting in off the right and getting in the box does give us a different option than the classic line-hugging wingers.

I would be made up with a win against Reading tomorrow but given the position they are in and the injuries we have to key players this could be very difficult.

Believe the starting 11 will have Neville, Heitinga and Naismith in there and that for me makes it a bigger ask of the others. Do not expect Mirallas to be back for Norwich either sadly, we need him for sure, but doubt he will be risked so soon after his injury, not enough time elapsed for a hamstring.

Would take 4 points from the next 2 games, the Gibson situation is a real worry for me, we just do not have an adequate replacement in the squad as it currently stands. This should have been addressed by DM in the Summer.

Graham

This is the type of game where Moysesy should show his management skills

I acknowledge he has limited options but would hope he has the nous to come up with a system that can surprise and overcome Reading

If not, the fact that we can all "predict" what he will do in terms of personnel and setup makes your intimation that we are in for a hard, backs-to-the-wall slog look likely

I'd go with the Lister team-talk for tomorrow - "let's get out there and twat `em"

We certainly do owe Reading a beating, going out to them in the FA Cup at Goodison relatively recently was a bad memory for sure. Hope we have moved on and DM and the players selected can deliver the result we need or a draw at the very least!

Still feel we will need our big players to perform at their best tomorrow if we are to get the win, Pienaar and Jelavic have been below par for a few weeks so I hope they step it up a bit, they are 2 of our top players. We will need top performances from Fellaini, Baines and Osman and we will definitely need the defensive to perform with more cohesion than they have to date this season.

I hope we can (for once!) grab the first goal in the game but if we are struggling I hope that DM has the balls to change things before we concede!
