Michael Kenrick Editorial Team 2 Posted 02/12/2012 at 15:40:35 Haha... I forgot about that. How many was it? 8 successive home ties? I haven't checked... Paul David 3 Posted 02/12/2012 at 15:54:45 You never know, if we get Hereford they might switch the tie to Goodison for more money. Can teams still do that? Kevin Day 4 Posted 02/12/2012 at 15:59:03 Paul, I think switching games all depends on the ground the tie is being played at, I'm not up to date with the total facts but its to do with Health and Safety regulations and the turn out expected. Paul David 5 Posted 02/12/2012 at 16:11:48 That's what I mean, isn't Hereford a non-league club? Can't see them having a ground that could satisfy demand. David Hallwood 6 Posted 02/12/2012 at 16:38:05 Isn't Hereford not that far from Shrewsbury? Let's not count chickens boys... James Morgan 7 Posted 02/12/2012 at 17:04:27 That's us out then. Paul Ferry 8 Posted 02/12/2012 at 18:21:46 Edgar Road used to be an old Division 2 ground, the game will be played in Hereford which is a fairly safe 53 miles from Shrewsbury.Hereford has shit boozers. Mark Lennon 9 Posted 02/12/2012 at 20:24:40 I can almost smell them £10 Wembley hotdogs! John Otway 10 Posted 02/12/2012 at 20:51:16 Paul Ferry. You haven't got a clue. It's Edgar Steet. As for boozers, seek out "The Barrels" and try the Butty Bach bitter from the Wye Valley brewery. If you want a girlie pint of lager pop into any boozer in town but don't laugh at the bouncers with short hair as they'll be "the regiment" earning a little cash in hand. Andrew Ellams 11 Posted 02/12/2012 at 21:38:20 Is the Crystal Rooms still open in Hereford? Paul Ferry 12 Posted 02/12/2012 at 22:09:15 Hereford IS a fucking dump with crap boozers; one of the ugliest town centres in the country saved somewhat by the cathedral/close. One of those annoying ugly places where the yokel locals love to try and have a pop at a big city in their Manure, Red Shite, Chelski and Shitty shirts. Yes, John, I've spent a fair bit of time in the town and am entitled to my opinion about the yokel locals and shitty alehouses, including The Barrels. Street/Road, much of a muchness really so deal with it and it wont matter at the end of the day as Hereford will get stuffed by the more successful Cheltenham. Nick Entwistle 13 Posted 02/12/2012 at 22:16:51 Talking of cups, I see the media are all over that English bloke who plays for Galaxy, with the cup final his last game for them, but any news on Donovan? The rumour he was delaying a potential retirement if the MLS let him leave for Europe, and in return lead the States to the next World Cup. Andy Meighan 14 Posted 03/12/2012 at 11:57:15 Shades of Shrewsbury... Colin Potter 15 Posted 03/12/2012 at 15:19:13 He scored a penalty for them Nick. Kevin Elliott 16 Posted 03/12/2012 at 18:55:17 Not that it's relevant but I used to work with a bloke from Hereford and he used to walk around the site all day saying: "Hereford born, Hereford bred, strong int' arm but soft int' head".Just thought I'd mention it like. David Jones 17 Posted 04/12/2012 at 14:09:57 I sometimes think you Premier League boys have lost all understanding of football below the pampered heights of the 'Shangri-la' that you inhabit! Hereford is what it is, a small provincial market town/city with a football team that is struggling in the Conference and a ground that hasn't changed much in the 40 years that I have been going regularly. To criticise the pubs is pointless, I bet you all know crap pubs wherever you live. And great ones, of which there are definitely a few in Hereford. We are really excited about the cup draw, it gives us a fantastic incentive to beat Cheltenham: it is going to be live on ESPN, we will get nearly £140k if we do manage to get through, and we will survive for another season. It will be a culture shock for your team and fans (the away supporter 'facilities' are legendary at Edgar Street! Think Variety Bar in Liverpool late 70s! We will be honored to receive one of the most famous clubs in the world to our ground, and no matter what the result it will be a talking point amongst us for years to come. So please, a little humility, even if it's condescending, would go a long way to make our day (if it's to be) a bit more pleasant and enjoyable. Some advice to your fans, though, especially the male ones, don't drink too much before the game — you have been warned about the loos! Barry Rathbone 18 Posted 04/12/2012 at 15:25:58 David Jones, I like Hereford, I've done a lot of business there and the town centre is great – full of original buildings mixed with the modern Maylords shopping centre.I know Edgar St will be buzzing if we turn up and I can recommend the place. I've always been welcomed particularly by those saucy Herefordian ladies who seem to like scousers. Noting Paul Ferry's disappointment, I wonder if he's Welsh? Herefordians have the same relationship with our Welsh bretheren as we have with kopites. I remember asking a senior member of Hereford Council about the relationship and he said "They burnt our cathedral down you know".Talk about long memories – it was in 1055! Ray Roche 19 Posted 04/12/2012 at 16:39:34 David Jones, I agree with Barry, Hereford is a good town with decent people, I have a brother who has lived there for 30-plus years who liked the place enough to stay there when he finished in the forces when he was based there.I've stayed there many times. Paul Ferry is talking crap with his comments about the locals...I doubt if he'd be so gobby to our kids face, being, as it is, 6ft 3 from the floor...
