Well, what will young Duffy be thinking? He is the future; he just needs games...

What ever money we have should be spent on a striker. We have enough defenders to cope but our strikeforce, ie, Jelavic needs help.

Save any money we have in January for a fox-in-the-box striker or a creative midfielder; young Duffy must be given his chance. COYB!

Lescott can chip in a few goals, as well you know.

Bobby, that's what ToffeeWebbers were saying for seasons about Coleman at right back. How wrong they were eh?

I'd take a proven asset like Lescott over Duffy any day.

I am with Eric. Jags and Lescott together were the best centre back partnership we have had in years, and he scored a fair few goals for us. Duffy isn't there yet. Maybe Duffy will turn out to be a long-term solution, but if the manager doesn't think he is ready then odds are he isn't.

No thanks, he did his dash for the big money and now finds himself down the pecking order. I don't think we can afford the £85k pw wages anyway. Duffy needs a chance and looked good when he played with JH.

I see we are all hanging Coleman out to dry. The kid makes a mistake and gets punished whereas the strikers miss sitter after sitter and they don't even get dragged off. At least give youth and exuberance and chance. I can't see it with Moyes though. It's no wonder we call him "dithering".

How is Coleman being punished? He was given the opening to make the RB berth his, but he messed it up. Now Hibbert is back and has done a better job. Moyes is just doing his job to pick the best performing player in the position. It is up to Coleman to raise his standards to unseat Hibbo again. Nothing "dithering" about this.

Likewise it is up to Duffy to stake his claim for a regular spot. He ain't bad, but I'm sure Moyes has looked at him more than we do from our armchairs.

Duffy has got loads of time yet. No rush with him whatsoever.

I'd have Lescott back but only on our terms. None of this £85 grand a week nonsense.

Anto, so I guess you're not best pleased that Pienaar is back with us then?

Coleman is being 'punished' because he's not good enough and we've got better, Jelavic isn't being 'dragged off' because we've got nobody to replace him, not even on the bench.

How is Coleman being punished by 'dithering' Dave? He's just had his longest run ever in the first team in his correct position. He then got injured but fortunately Hibbert is back fit. Coleman made some mistakes all the way through that patch yet didn't get the hook once.

People will just twist anything they can to have a go at Moyes. If Coleman played at RB for too long and kept making mistakes no doubt he'd be called a 'favourite' and Moyes would be dour for sticking with him. Now that he's injured Moyes is dithering for not giving him a chance. Ridiculous.

I guess if you asked David Moyes would he fancy having Rooney back, he would say yes. Obviously the press are always looking for an angle, with Lescott struggling to make the City side, so let's ask Moyes would he have him back. Now saying you would have someone back is a long way from saying you are going to put in a bid for him in the transfer window.

As I understand it, money is again tight... so that renders any chance of Lescott being bought unrealistic but maybe a cheeky loan deal may not be out the question. Although I would imagine Moyes would be looking to strengthen other areas of our team, if funds allow, rather than bringing in another centre back – an area that we are relatively strong in.

Sadly for Coleman, everyone on here thought he was going to be another Tommy Wright. Unfortunately he's another Tommy Cooper. But when he's played wide right, as opposed to RB, he's a better player (IMO).

I seem to remember everyone on here bollocking Moyes for not giving him a chance at wide right after the Spurs match a couple of seasons ago; now Coleman's getting bollocked wherever he plays. He gives us width and pace and he's not afraid to take a full back on; he sometimes resembles a headless chicken but he's a better alternative to Naismith at wide right.

He is better than Naismith wide right.

Lescott is also a very able left back and provides penty of goals. So is Moyes weighing up public opinion regarding Lescott before selling up our prized LB in January?? That would then give him £10-15 million for a midfielder and a striker...!!

Obviously, I don't want this situation but I do smell a rat!!!

I'd definitely take Lescott back. Because of the way he left the club, people forget how good his and Jagielka's partnership was.

Duffy's still young, and Distin is really old, probably leave at the end of next season. So Duffy can replace him then, he just has to be patient at the mean time. Could maybe loan him out again.

I'd love to have him back and I noted that DM sought him out at the end of the game at Etihad to shake his hand. Nothing to read into there I suppose but he is on 90k a week at City. How do you reconcile that ?

If he took a paycut to £70k pw to fit into our pay structure, I'd have him back (for less than £20m mind). Him and Jags was the best central defensive partnership we've had in years and I daresay we'd be even higher up the table if he was still with us.

What happened to that Forren deal? I think I would prefer to see a younger center back in than Lescott even though he is of higher quality than Forren, but he again will last for many years to come, and will eventually turn into a really great player. Unless Heitinga goes, then we could need both in.
