I'm pretty sure a gentleman by the name of Pele scored more goals during his career than anyone.

Muller was a great goalscorer but did little else... he was similar to Cottee and Defoe in workrate and played alongside great players who provided lots of ammunition.

Dean I never saw.

Messi also works hard and provides lots of assists, although he is playing with great players in his team. I'm surprised he doesn't do it for his country as Tevez and Aguero are his team mates.

Let's not forget Fred Geary; obviously Dean, with 383 goals in 433 appearances is the greatest, and most prolific, but this fella's ratio wasn’t far behind with 86 in 99 appearances, including, if I'm not mistaken, the first ever goal at Goodison. I discovered at the museum the other week that Geary was light years ahead of the game; he had the soles of his boots specially shaved as thin as possible to aid his running! Victorian boot technology at Goodison Park!!!!
