Season › 2012-13 › News Jagielka thrilled to extend Everton contract Lyndon Lloyd , 6 January, 5comments | Jump to most recent Expressing his delight at extending his Everton contract by another two years, Phil Jagielka says that he would be happy to end his playing days at Goodison Park. The 30-year-old committed to another four years with the Blues when he signed an extension to his existing deal and admits that because of his love of life at Everton, negotiations were brief. When asked if he could foresee finishing his career at Goodison, the England international said: "I hope I do. I love being here and the club have obviously not minded extending my deal for another two years so I'm looking forward to the future. "It wasn't a long discussion to extend my contract — I was delighted to do so. I'm proud to be part of this club and especially if we keep going forward the way we are at the moment, maybe there'll be another contract extension in a few years to come. "When I came [from Sheffield United], I was a little bit of a utility player — I used to play midfield, right-back and centre-back without really nailing down a position. "But with the guidance not only of the manager and his coaching staff, but the players around me and the more experienced ones, I managed to settle down at centre-half and it's not been too bad since then." Mike Gaynes 2 Posted 07/01/2013 at 02:05:44 "It's not been too bad since then."The man is a master of understatement. What a player he is. And what a privilege it would be for us to have him for the remainder of his career. Jamie Sweet 3 Posted 07/01/2013 at 03:45:04 It wasn't long ago that people were calling for Jags to be dropped in favour of Johnny. It is testament to Jagieka's great attitude, just as much as it is to Johnny's apparent poor one, that this is no longer the case.Top class professional. Tony J Williams 4 Posted 07/01/2013 at 10:04:04 To be fair Jamie, he was putting in some shocking performances. He has gotten back to the Jags we knew before the horrible cruciate injury, thank God. Still is dodgy on long hoofs into the box though.......but that's a different thread.
