The survey and the solicitation to provide feedback on our website in exchange for providing a phone number did not come from ToffeeWeb. Rather, we suspect it was delivered to our site via Google Ads, the web advertising engine that generates about 80% of the advertising displayed on the website. [Note: To date, we have not seen the ad in question. We do not choose which adverts are delivered to the site; Google uses complex algorithms, usually based on your geographical location and your own web browsing habits (or where that information is not available to Google, the ads are randomly generated), to deliver ads to you on ToffeeWeb and millions of other websites.] We at ToffeeWeb have NEVER solicited money from you, our readers — the website has always been a free service and we have no plans to change that model any time soon. Because of that, though, carrying ads on the site is a necessary evil that allows us to cover the running costs. While it obviously helps us if you engage with the ads displayed, we take care to ensure that the ads we do run are as unobtrusive as possible — for example, we deliberately avoid annoying pop-up ads and videos that play audio automatically when the page loads. We value the trust we have developed with our readers and we would NEVER partner with a third party to solicit funds from you — any such data-gathering would be free and even if it were not we would be absolutely explicit that it was us at ToffeeWeb who were behind the request. If you have any information on the advertisement and survey in question, specifically the URL (web address) and name of the company involved, or have any further questions, please email webmaster@toffeeweb.com so that we can take measures to ensure this solicitation is not displayed on ToffeeWeb again.
