Everton Under-18s bounced back from their FA Youth Cup exit with an impressive 5-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday. A brace from striker George Waring and a goal apiece from Harry Charsley, Jonjoe Kenny and Courtney Duffus earned Everton all three points as they catch up on games in hand in the Barclays U18 Premier League Elite Group.

With the scores goalless as half-time neared, the Toffees were made to pay for not taking their multitude of chances.

A free-kick fired into the top corner stunned the hosts, but after a productive team talk from Sheedy and Duncan Ferguson, they were ready to discover their shooting boots that have been so prolific this term.

Five minutes into the second period, Gethin Jones burst to the byline and crossed into the centre. Waring got to it first and headed back across the Palace goalkeeper to make it 1-1.

The Blues would have the lead they deserved five minutes later, as a left-wing cross from Jasper Johns was headed home from close range by Charsley.

And on the hour-mark it was 3-1. Matthew Pennington raced in behind the defence and showed courage and commitment to get to the ball first. He was upended by the goalkeeper, however, and up stepped Waring to fire in from the spot.

On 65 minutes, centre-half Kenny got in on the act, finishing a one-two with aplomb.

And with 10 minutes to go, substitute Duffus completed another excellent move from Ibou Touray's through pass.

Waring, Charsley, Jonjoe Kenny and Courtney Duffus.
Anyone seen these youngsters? Opinions on their skills?

Waring is a young man we bought from Bradford who, at the time was chased by a host of other Premier League clubs. I thought he was CM but this report says he is a striker?? Anyway, when he came he was very highly thought of but I think he hasn't progressed as much as what people had hoped.

That was George Green Stu. Don't know where this idea that he has not progressed has come from? Isn't he only 16-17?

I wonder what a 'productive' team talk from Big Dunc is like.
