Should the vastly improved Baines be the number one pick at left-back in all the key matches that England play in the near future? » Read the full article at EPL Index Reader Comments (6) Note: the following content is not moderated or vetted by the site owners at the time of submission. Well, I've got a pocket full of two pennies...Baines should have displaced Cole a long time ago. I'm baffled why international managers don't pick the players who are on form in the league. All we get is this mythical 'building for the future'/'continuity' bollocks. Well, it hasn't worked in 2/3 generations of international football for Eng-er-land so maybe they should just pick a bunch of good players who happen to be having a great season. But, ultimately, I don't give a fuck. I'm an Englishman but I find myself supporting the other team quite naturally. I just can't show support for the pricks that populate the national team. Danny Biddle 3 Posted 01/05/2013 at 15:30:16 Sadly wont happen till either Cole retires or more likely Baines moves to a more 'fasionable' club. The fact is he'd be Englands regular left back if he played for Chelsea and Cole played for Everton! Ernie Baywood 4 Posted 01/05/2013 at 15:45:09 He would and the argument would be his experience in Europe. Undoubtedly that's what holds Baines back. Personally, I don't give a shit about England but they'd be better off with Baines for 4 reasons:1. All round he's the better player;2. England don't need the best defender, they actually need someone who can create something against stubborn international teams;3. He'll be around longer; and4. He's not a nob. And the England squad has too many of them to succeed. Ross Edwards 5 Posted 01/05/2013 at 15:50:10 Also, Woy is probably the biggest yes man in football. If JT or any of the senior players confronted him, he'd go into a humiliating climb down. If he dropped Cashley he'd give in to his demands and reinstate him if he protested. He gave in quickly with Wio didn't he, and looks to be giving Tewwy a wecall. Tony J Williams 6 Posted 01/05/2013 at 17:06:57 I think Cashley is probably better than Baines........
