Hammar mulling his next move

Everton Academy graduate Johan Hammar looks destined to leave Goodison Park this summer when his contract expires, with options in England and Europe for him to consider according to his agent.

The 19 year-old has been on the Blues' books for three years and recently spent a spell on loan at Stockport County.

It would appear, though, that the defender will not be extending his stay on Merseyside as he doesn't see any immediate prospect of first-team football at Everton.

"In England, there is interest from clubs in the Championship," his agent Martin Klette told Fotbolldirekt.se.

"In other countries, the interest is from clubs in the top flight. We are negotiating with some clubs and some of them want Johan to come for a trial."

Ummm 19 year old should have been given a contract and then sold if he wants to go. Do our board know how to run a business? I'm no businessman, but even I see that!

Even you see that? Yet oddly enough you didn't seem to see "It would appear, though, that the defender will not be extending his stay on Merseyside as he doesn't see any immediate prospect of first-team football at Everton."

Hmm, could be that he doesn't want to sign a new contract at Everton, couldn't it?

I'd wager that the board know a little bit more about contracts/retaining youth players/values etc than you. Just a hunch.

Any excuse to have a dig etc etc

He cant even get into the U21s team so what chance does he have at making the first team?

As he's under 23, we should claim a compensation off any club willing to take him provided we offered him a written contract offer, which surely happened after the Gosling fiasco, so I'm not too bothered in losing, at best, a potential squad player.... at worst, a flop.

Amazing how few academy players ever make the first team - something wrong here!

Is this really that big a deal?? Most Academy players across the country get released at this time of year.

I think we have bigger things to worry about!!

Paul 005, I sometimes wonder why we bother having an academy.
Is it merely a well paid part time retirement job for ex players who otherwise would be on the dole?
An Everton in the Finch Farm community sort of thing.
