The players of Everton Football Club let their feet do the talking this week to support breast cancer awareness.

The Blues were quite literally in the pink at the Club's training ground, Finch Farm, as the entire playing squad donned pink socks, donated by Nike, to show their support for breast cancer awareness ahead of ‘wear it pink' day this Friday (25 October).

Wear it pink day is a fun national initiative designed to help raise awareness and funds for the charity, Breast Cancer Campaign.

Last year, £2.1 million was raised by wear it pink supporters, which goes directly towards funding world-class, life-saving research across the UK and Ireland. Breast cancer is still the most common cancer and every year it claims the lives of 12,000 women with 50,000 more diagnosed.

Employees at Everton will also be demonstrating their support for the campaign by dressing in pink this Friday.

Everton and USA goalkeeper, Tim Howard, said: “We were really pleased to be able to do our bit to support breast cancer awareness. It affects so many families all over the world and helping to raise awareness, which hopefully leads to more funding for life-saving research, is so important.”

The wear it pink activity concludes the Blues' support for breast cancer awareness month, which included Club Captain Phil Jagielka hosting a special ladies lunch at the Hilton Hotel, Liverpool in aid of two local breast cancer charities, which treated and helped two female members of staff to beat breast cancer in recent years.

Everton Football Club, through its official charity Everton in the Community, is committed to supporting local and national charitable initiatives. For more information about Everton in the Community, visit evertonfc.com/community.
