Season › 2013-14 › News U18s stunned by Reading Michael Kenrick , 26 October, 0comments | Jump to most recent Everton Under-18s' excellent run was brought to a halt in dramatic fashion by Reading on Saturday. The Toffees took a 2-0 first half lead and looked to be cruising towards a seventh straight win only for the Royals to rally in the second half to snare all three points with a 3-2 victory. The Blues began well and dominated before taking the lead after 20 minutes when Tyrone Duffus slipped George Green's cross home. The lead was doubled shortly after when full-back Callum Connolly scored his third goal in as many games with a low shot. But after half-time Reading were much improved while Everton began slowly. They conceded possession too readily and resorted to the long ball instead of passing it around. The Royals pulled a goal back after 10 minutes of the half. A further 15 minutes later it was 2-2 and then, with a quarter of an hour to go, a shell-shocked Everton conceded a killer third goal from a penalty box melee. Everton U18s: Griffiths; Adelson (65' Birch), Connolly, Langton, Graham; Shannon, Charsley, T Duffus; Dyson (80' Edge), Green (60' Williams), C Duffus.
