Season › 2013-14 › News Martinez is still aiming high Lyndon Lloyd , 5 March, 0comments | Jump to most recent Roberto Martinez says that he is looking to finish higher than sixth place, believing that his Everton team can put together a run between now and the end of the season that will result in a final placing befitting the level of their performances this season. The Spaniard insists that the Blues' current points tally isn't necessarily representative of the quality of their play this term, not least the recent defeats at Tottenham and Chelsea where a draw in both games would have been a fairer reflection. His team also dropped points earlier in the campaign in matches that ended in draws despite Everton being overwhelmingly the dominant side. "We are sixth now and over the season it's about as low as we've been," Martinez says. "In terms of results, I don't think the table reflects the season we've had. We've had a game postponed and, among others, we've had two results recently (Tottenham and Chelsea) that didn't match the performances. "So we are aspiring to finish the season as strong as we can and with as many points as we can. We've never had it in our aims to finish sixth and I don't think our aim will be finishing sixth at this present time." Quotes sourced from evertonfc.com About these ads © ToffeeWeb
