I suppose stranger things can happen? Colin Glassar 2 Posted 23/01/2016 at 00:08:33 Sure can, Bob. Donald Trump could become their next president! Ernie Baywood 3 Posted 23/01/2016 at 00:12:22 I like this assessment, from SB Nation: Tim Howard wins CONCACAF Goalkeeper of the Year, which is hilariously bad John Daley 4 Posted 23/01/2016 at 18:41:02 CONCACAF eh? Congratulations. By coincidence, he's also the first winner of my own personal CONSTAGAFFE award. Won it hands down (or hands flapping slightly above his head in an old Black & White Minstrel 'shoooow time Mama' manner). Colin Glassar 5 Posted 23/01/2016 at 18:42:39 Did Jack Warner vote, and if he did how much did it cost? Chris Hooson 6 Posted 23/01/2016 at 18:46:10 Wow, the other candidates must have been shite then! Liam Reilly 7 Posted 23/01/2016 at 19:00:30 Talk about winning by default. They really must have no-one else if he can be that shite, take a sabbatical for a year and still win it. Terry Aylward 8 Posted 23/01/2016 at 19:00:45 What next ? Arouna Kone wins la Ballon d'Or. Brin Williams 9 Posted 23/01/2016 at 19:21:47 God Bless America. Dean Peamum 10 Posted 23/01/2016 at 19:31:57 I've got a nice wee sweat on I've done him in a double with Kone for top Premier League goalscorer. Brin Williams 11 Posted 23/01/2016 at 19:34:26 I think the operative letters in CONCACAF areCON - a nasty feeling when it happens to you ...CAC - shite..AF - ? anything to do with football?? Gerard Carey 12 Posted 23/01/2016 at 19:51:29 It's probably a bit like the Worst Oscars event, "and the nominees for the Dracula award are, Tim Howard...." etc. He was a shoo-in as they say. Heard that Robles is collecting it on behalf of Tim, in case Tim would drop it on stage!!!!! Alan Bodell 13 Posted 23/01/2016 at 19:51:48 Them over there is strange folks, ain't that right, Darlene? That goalsaver of ours made 13 savings in the whole of 1 game some time back and this boy will surely run for President of this great country when he returns... give a hallelujah! Kevin Elliott 14 Posted 23/01/2016 at 20:16:39 Well I'll be dogone Willbur.Yeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! Peter Carpenter 15 Posted 23/01/2016 at 20:18:39 Mingerlet was second with Bogdoff third. Brian Wilkinson 16 Posted 23/01/2016 at 20:21:02 What next? McGeady as Ireland Player of the Year.Come on, Yanks bring Tim home. Trevor Peers 17 Posted 23/01/2016 at 20:26:43 Roberto will never drop him now. Peter Howard 18 Posted 23/01/2016 at 20:39:40 Hope he's seated no more than three yards from the stage... otherwise, he will refuse to come up for the award. Andy Crooks 19 Posted 23/01/2016 at 20:50:40 I have critizied Tim Howard but our goalkeeper has won a prestigious award so well done to him for putting a positive light on our club. Dave Abrahams 20 Posted 23/01/2016 at 20:52:47 Andy (#18), I'm waiting for the punch line!!! Peter Carpenter 21 Posted 23/01/2016 at 20:54:27 I think it was sarcasm. Jim Hardin 22 Posted 23/01/2016 at 20:56:08 Well done, Tim. Better than Navas. Must be all the saves made from the shots our "spectacular defense" led by the next British "Great White Hope" allow. I hope his speech mentions how it wouldn't have been possible to showcase his shot stopping skills without his defenders in front of him and keeps a straight face when he says "especially John Stones". Keep it up, Tim, and continue to prove the experts on TW wrong. Robin Cannon 23 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:08:46 According to the description, his performances for us can't be counted (as only says pro leagues within CONCACAF).The single game he played for the US in 2015, as the only eligible performance for the award, must have been amazing. Tony Hill 24 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:11:43 I think Jim Hardin should get a special award. Tony Abrahams 25 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:17:27 Well done Tim, think your shot stopping skills are still decent, but ive never had much confidence in the rest of your game. Not sure about the experts on ToffeeWeb. But if he continues to keep it up, I'm just glad he's not going to be playing in the cup games.Been a decent servant, but I just don't think he's at the required standard anymore, so hopefully an award like this can pave the way for Tim, to return home, and finish his playing days in a league more suited to his present level. Jamie Crowley 26 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:17:54 Proving how meaningless the keeper position can be...How'd the English fare against Costa Rica (CONCACAF team, cough-cough)?Of the four teams in CONCACAF three went through to the knock-out stage in WC 2014 - pipping the UEFA countries of Croatia, Spain, Italy, ENGLAND, Bosnia, Portugal, and Russia to the knock-out stage.European soccer is so overrated. Two to three "good" countries and a host of patty-cake crap sides. Diving ninnies (read men with vaginas) who play the game horrendously light-weight. I believe the French might say "POO-SW-AH" (translation = pussy). And the English are "hard" players - HA!!!Take a trip to 100 degree Mexico City where the players play like they actually have male parts.Yet all we hear from the Euro-snobs is how shite CONCACAF is. And we're the "ugly Americans"?? Behave.Darlene! Git in here woman! Now there's some downright arrogant assholes there! Now pass my spitter lady. I love ya woman!Yer 'avin a laugh you arrogant jag-offs!Way to go Timmy! Even if you should be #2 for Everton and you won against a group of no-names. Least you actually won something.Unlike the English... Tony Abrahams 27 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:27:13 How is the voting determined Jamie/Jim, is it done by the players or the fans? Ian Robert 28 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:27:59 "How'd"?? WTF....."patty-cake"???......"ninnies".... it is true...Americans are ugly. Glen Garrett 29 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:31:07 They must have been on acid whilst watching the Everton games. Peter Howard 30 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:31:21 Jamie (25)We won at Agincourt.'Timmy' would have been useless there there were a lot of crosses. Tony Hill 31 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:32:36 Jamie, you and Jim H need to get over to Goodison pronto. It'll be a joy and I think the entirety of TW would come out to greet you. Kevin Elliott 32 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:32:44 Howard sure has them Mexican male parts...You could see it when he dodged the rampaging Costa against the chavs. Jamie Crowley 33 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:35:00 Tony Hill -I've a feeling after my post there might be a welcoming party... Gerard Carey 34 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:36:04 Jamie, sounds like the Boston Tea Party all over again. Upstarts them Colonial fellows what!!!!, never!!. Adam Gilfillan 35 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:41:12 Chill out, Jamie, it's just an observation. If Tim Howard has won a best goalkeeper award for CONCACAF, then the keepers in that region must be truly awful because he's garbage. Is that not a fair comment? No need to start throwing insults. Tony Abrahams 36 Posted 23/01/2016 at 21:59:52 Young keeper Griffiths tweets he is in the Everton squad tomorrow, could Howard be on his way back home? Mark Daley 37 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:01:17 CONCACAF? Can Obviously Not Catch Any Crosses, And Fumbles? Dave Hall 38 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:10:58 Well done Mark Daley :) Ian Robert 39 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:12:15 Treacherous bastards. Jamie Crowley 40 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:12:29 Mark Daley -Touche...Group D WC2014Costa Rica (CONCACAF team) GP3 W2 L0 T1 7 ptsItaly (UEFA team) GP3 W1 L2 T0 3 ptsEngland (UEFA team) GP3 W0 L2 T1 3 ptsUEFA = Utterly Egotistical Football Association Jamie Crowley 41 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:14:19 Errrr... that's a single point for England.See?! I'm entirely pro-England / UEFA! Trying to add to the points tally so it doesn't look so gawd-fucking-awful! Daniel Joseph 42 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:14:26 With the best will in the world, Tim, I don't think so, lid. Colin Glassar 43 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:19:07 Jack Warner, former Concacaf president, built a 'Centre For Excellence' using FIFA money (it cost $5m and he kept the other $10m) in Trinidad. He turned it into a private spa for his family and cronies. If I was Tim, I wouldn't touch any awards from this mob with a barge pole. Jamie Crowley 44 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:32:32 Colin -Taking off the full-zip ugly American jumper I've put on to combat the ridiculous nose-in-the-air arrogance directed towards footballing countries in this part of the world...You're 100% accurate. CONCACAF is a cauldron of lies, deceit and immorality with bent, filthy, and unethical leaders. And the buck doesn't stop at Jack Warner's door. Chuck Blazer springs to mind...And Tim, were he a stand-up kind of guy, wouldn't touch the award from that mob with a barge pole.100% spot on. Colin Glassar 45 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:36:33 And Jeffrey Webb as well Jamie. Seems that CONCACAF is rotten to the core. Have you heard anything about Tim moving to Toronto this week? David Greenwood 46 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:40:22 You seen the details of the Bale transfer, Colin? Spanish bank, after being bailed out by the EU, bankrolled the transfer. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Garry Corgan 47 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:40:55 Disgrace. He hasn't won it on merit, so what forces were at work here? His agent? Sponsors? Jamie Crowley 48 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:40:57 Nothing. We can only hope...In Apopka, FL for #4 of 5's "soccer" tournament.I do hope Tim moves on. His time has obviously come, at least to these eyes. Toronto has been splashing the cash a lot of late (Altidore, Bradley), but I think a move back to an American city will eventually be orchestrated. Captain America and whatnot...Time will tell. Colin Glassar 49 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:44:53 Colorado Rapids, sorry. David, the amount of unpaid loans Madrid owes to the banks is nothing short of disgraceful. FIFA and UEFA have been aware of this for years but as Madrid have royal patronage everyone keeps quiet. The day the banks ask for their money back is the day Real Madrid folds. Jamie Crowley 50 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:46:02 I know naught. But the Rapids makes sense. David Greenwood 51 Posted 23/01/2016 at 22:46:15 Utterly corrupt, Colin. Chris Gould 52 Posted 23/01/2016 at 23:37:08 Jamie, I appreciate your staunch defence of CONCACAF teams, and their 2014 World Cup exploits. But in the interests of a fair and balanced argument: A staunchly hot Brazilian World Cup was always going to favour nations from CONCACAF over UEFA, yet UEFA teams managed to place 1st and 3rd. I think this allows us to arrogantly look down our noses at CONCACAF, at least for the next couple of years... even if England were shite. Phil Walling 53 Posted 23/01/2016 at 23:42:40 I always said he was a good 'un! Kevin Jones 54 Posted 23/01/2016 at 23:49:37 Apparently Stevie Wonder was 2nd and Cheif Ironside 3. Well done Tit ( sorry Tim) typo or Freudient slip hmmm For younger viewers ask a grown up who Ironside was Phil Sammon 55 Posted 24/01/2016 at 01:21:38 Tony,I just read that about Griffiths being in the squad. Very interesting indeed! Please let it be true! Jim Hardin 57 Posted 24/01/2016 at 02:44:38 Phil and everyone,Griffiths is in the side but likely to be used as a left sided striker in RM's new 4-4-2 set-up, since Mirallas cannot possibly play after scoring goals. He wants a GK at each end and this kid is faster than Robles. As for Howard winning the award. He took a year off so having only been in the squad for three games and having played in one game not sure how he wins it. This is especially true since his club didn't do so well either. It might have been fixed but who else would win it? Guzan? As for the claims of CONCACAF being corrupt, aren't you lot part of UEFA? Glass houses and all that. Still stand by what I said about Everton's defenders (Baines excluded). Will let you know when I come over to Goodison since unfortunately I will likely be travelling with a freaking Liverpool fan on business. I will wear riot gear so you can hurl insults or whatever at him/us.As for winning at Agincourt, okay one for you. We won at Yorktown and New Orleans and we get to keep John Oliver over here as a captive comedian/TV personality so USA wins. Anto Byrne 58 Posted 24/01/2016 at 03:11:37 Who cares? Nobody cares. The truth is out there for all to see. Tim Howard... Goalie of the Year? Of course yer 'avin a laff. Liu Weixian 59 Posted 24/01/2016 at 05:26:32 Steve Harvey strikes again! Brian Porter 60 Posted 24/01/2016 at 06:18:31 They're 'avin a larf', surely! Ian Hollingworth 61 Posted 24/01/2016 at 09:01:08 Choked on my Sunday morning cornflakes reading that one... I cannot wait for Martinez's comments on this one. Please stop upsetting our American Blues before they get to the 2nd World War and saving us, etc. Brin Williams 62 Posted 24/01/2016 at 09:07:23 TA 27 'How is the voting determined'For a minute there I thought you said 'vomiting'Still I wasn't far off. Dave Abrahams 63 Posted 24/01/2016 at 09:09:31 If Howard is not in the squad maybe he is being protected from facing the crowd after his latest howler last week.Martinez says players are picked on form prove it by putting Robles in goal and Frankie on the bench. Michael Ward 64 Posted 24/01/2016 at 09:26:25 There is the chance Howard is starting because Robles threw his toys out the pram or is injured. Which means Howard would be likely to start on Wednesday queue howls of outrage. Colin Glassar 65 Posted 24/01/2016 at 09:36:37 Jim Hardin, you seem to forget that we kept the best bit Canada!! Like the Canucks say, not bad eh? Paul Kelly 66 Posted 24/01/2016 at 09:40:31 You can have Yorktown, New Orleans and John Oliver Jim, but at least we play football with our feet! Andrew Laird 67 Posted 24/01/2016 at 09:59:33 Obviously a nonsense award which has no bearing on performance, Tim Howard is revered in the USA, I would imagine Neville Southall would of been President if he was born there.Reading the posts above reminds me of the excellent Long Good Friday:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vE4icES_3yA David Price 68 Posted 24/01/2016 at 10:03:11 Jamie and Colin, Colorado Rapids have sold their first choice keeper and the manager is confident of a replacement. Tim Howard could be on his way in this window. Colin Glassar 69 Posted 24/01/2016 at 10:42:47 If Howard isn't in the squad today, that could be very telling, David. John Crawley 70 Posted 24/01/2016 at 10:54:10 Well apparently Griifiths has been saying on social media he's in the squad for today and Robles is apparently fit so something might be up! Colin Glassar 71 Posted 24/01/2016 at 10:58:55 If he does leave will he be replaced or will Robles take over as number one? John Crawley 72 Posted 24/01/2016 at 11:02:43 Who knows Colin, think it depends what they think of Griffiths? I would want to see what Joel's like with an extended run and then reassess in the summer. Eugene Ruane 73 Posted 24/01/2016 at 11:24:48 I've heard whispers that I might be up for an award soon so can understand how excited Tim might be right now.(If I do win 'best toast butterer in your house', I'll let you all know.) Rob Hooton 74 Posted 24/01/2016 at 11:50:24 Fair enough Jamie, I agree that European football is well overrated and much of it as dull as hell to watch. A few super rich arsehole clubs trying to monopolise ... Yawn.Reckon corruption is rife here too, why else would they refuse to implement technology? It's to keep the game bent and ensure the brown envelope brigade get their own way!! Darren Hind 78 Posted 24/01/2016 at 12:26:33 Jim and Jamie will be waiting with bated Breath.High fives all round on TW if Eugene gets the nod Will King 80 Posted 24/01/2016 at 14:30:58 The pointlessness of rubbishing Howard is hard to describe. The club moves forward when everyone pulls together – players, manager and fans alike. Infighting has only ever produced negative results (across many spectrums). A fan's job is to support no matter what! Particularly at Everton where that mentality is what separates us from the Manchester's and Chelsea supporters of this world. COYB Joseph Terrence 81 Posted 24/01/2016 at 14:44:33 Two world wars and the greatest keeper to ever play the game. No wonder why yous Brits are so bitter! Will King 83 Posted 24/01/2016 at 15:24:01 Ted Sagar, Gordon West and Neville Southall. Know your history.... :) John Parker 84 Posted 24/01/2016 at 16:08:10 There must be some awful keepers out there.... Roger Helm 85 Posted 24/01/2016 at 16:25:25 This is great news! We have a top keeper! No stopping us now. Michael Kenrick 86 Posted 24/01/2016 at 18:52:55 Will King, you're not the first to claim that "A fan's job is to support no matter what!" insinuating that any sort of criticism is unacceptable. While that might be an admirable front to present to other fans, the thing is, we're family here, and I think most of us appreciate honesty about our failings, rather than brushing things under the carpet in a barrage of positive praise for a player (and he's not alone!) that is seriously underperforming. Alan Humphreys 87 Posted 24/01/2016 at 19:35:04 Surely during the summer this can only add to the sell-on value. Reigning CONCACAF GK of the year n'all.Please... Dave Lynch 88 Posted 24/01/2016 at 22:06:11 Jamie.I think you'll find we've won a World Cup. Then again the yanks do every year when they contest the World Series in men's rounders. So alls well that ends well eh...ps: Howard is still shite, no matter what half-assed award is bestowed upon him. Dave Lynch 89 Posted 24/01/2016 at 22:08:32 Just to add.We won the World Cup when it mattered and meant something, not the watered down, corrupt, sponsorship ridden shit it is today. Thomas James 90 Posted 25/01/2016 at 14:17:17 He might well be the best keeper who's played in CONCACAF region in 2015. However, in the Premier League, where Everton play, he isn't good enough in my own view for a top 4 club which apparently we strive to be. So Roberto says. With that in mind it is time for him to move on. Jamie Crowley 91 Posted 25/01/2016 at 14:33:29 Dave Lynch -You won a World Cup. We won the Revolutionary War. Both events occurred on or around the same time, no? Tony Abrahams 92 Posted 25/01/2016 at 14:41:10 Jamie, I think The USA, will win a football World Cup, before The English, win it again, but I don't think either of us will see it! How did Tim, pick up this award mate, who casts the votes? Thomas James 93 Posted 25/01/2016 at 14:45:27 Tony - I think Roberto had a 75% vote... Jamie Crowley 94 Posted 25/01/2016 at 14:47:05 Tony I've no idea whatsoever. It's a joke. Probably a slew of American writers voting who don't have a clue about footy! The mainstream press over here is an absolute joke with "soccer". They know more about tiddly-winks than football! Tony Abrahams 95 Posted 25/01/2016 at 14:47:44 Off who Thomas? Players, members of the organisation, or just the general public? Tony Abrahams 96 Posted 25/01/2016 at 14:51:42 That's the problem with you Yanks, you always seem to have one eye on the Chinese these days!! Thomas James 97 Posted 25/01/2016 at 14:53:08 I was joking, Tony I've not got a clue. But, for him to win it and given the context that he seems to be undroppable despite really bad performances for Everton, Roberto has been about! Jamie Crowley 98 Posted 25/01/2016 at 15:06:15 Did Eugene win his award to did his ol' Lady knick it?Or did Tim Howard actually win best toast butterer? Dave Lynch 99 Posted 25/01/2016 at 20:03:53 1775 or there abouts for the Revolutionary War and 1966 for the World Cup... Fuck me Jamie, your knowledge of historical dates astounds me! Dave Lynch 100 Posted 25/01/2016 at 20:41:16 Unless that was an American attempt at sarcasm?Which if it was, was well, erm....crap. Ron Sear 101 Posted 25/01/2016 at 20:44:17 I've never heard of the CONCACAF ratings, obviously it is similar to the Golden Raspberry Awards for the film industry in which case Tim had it on a plate.
