Mystery over stadium-related projections

Updated The Echo are teasing a series of images related to Everton's stadium that were projected onto Liverpool landmarks on Sunday night.

The projections, displayed briefly on places like the Liver Building, the Albert Dock and Walker Art gallery, show Goodison Park's iconic criss-cross Archibald Leitch ironwork together with co-ordinates that map to the location of the Blues' current ground.

It's all to do with the reveal of the club's new home kit and Everton have also released a teaser video clip ahead of the event.

Announcing a done deal on a new stadium and FDB as a new manager could provide a very happy ending to this season...

Yeah, because with everything that isn't going on at GP like sacking the Manager we have got someone with enough thought to provoke a new stadium thread?

More than likely a smokescreen to not getting rid of Martinez. We are having the Commonwealth Games stadium, and its free!!!! Just have to wait years for it, we will have the best stadium in the conference league!!!

Probably just something to do with the Awards night to be held at St George's Hall on Thursday... But you never know, perhaps they've found a unique and phenomenal way to inform the manager of his departure or more likely the announcement that the kit-bag deal will be extended on the same terms for the next 50 years.

According to the coordinates provided in the photos, the location is close to the Travelodge situated on Tithebarn Street, mind you there is a Jobwise office located near there too. It's probably a book-launch or perhaps the new film by Doctor David France about Alex Young is being released.

It's the new kit. Will be revealed Thursday morning.

Patrick, if it's the Jobwise office, perhaps it's where Martinez will be nine o'clock Thursday morning.

Just trying to deflect the inertia around the big decision regarding Martinez the board appear incapable of making probably.

Guy (#7),

Unfortunately Karl is correct – the 'mystery' is nothing more than a marketing ploy to launch the new kit on Thursday, never mind eh!

Not sure what to think, it's either 'we're building a state-of-the-art, 𧹺m ground in the docks' or 'here's the new shirt' (which will be blue and available in October).

Marketing the new shirts which go on sale 'some time this week'.

Priorities in order, then...

Hope they get Amanda Holden or that lass from Atomic Kitten to model it because there's not many current players I want to see wearing it next season.

Gerry (#12),

They are the numbers I entered into the search site and obviously I must have entered them incorrectly, but nobody should trust my navigational skills – I often go out for a loaf of bread and somehow find myself in the boozer.

Does Bill think this will get us to stop talking about getting Martinez sacked? Pathetic.

If it's another new kit let's hope it's ALL BLACK. Not a reminder of the great days of "The Black Watch", but to remind everyone that our great club has died under the watchful hand of Kenwright and Martinez!!!

Patrick (#14) – I may be a Surveyor by trade, but I have similar navigational problems as you do in ending up at a bar!

Probably the announcement that Hibbert has signed a three year extension to his contract. Or indeed that the Kitbag deal has been extended. Or that the pies will be even more lukewarm next year!

The stupidest thing is that in the back of my head there is this little voice that is hoping that it indeed is a major announcement about a state-of-the-art new stadium. Or the full redevelopment of Goodison into the 65,000-seater Joe Parkinson Stadium.

And rationally I know it's just the new kit. But I cannot silence that voice.

Regardless of what it is, it's quite nice to see them doing something innovative with their marketing.

Daniel (#8) and Michael (#15). Agree with you guys – certainly the timing (even if the "announcement" does lead to something other than another cock-up) is designed to try to take the heat out of a dreadful situation.

As to the awards, there should be a collective one for we poor match going fans and one for Speedo Mick. No-one connected with running or playing for our senior team should get anything as even the more professional of them (eg, Jagielka, Barry etc) have been no more than adequate.

In the current climate I can understand the tendency towards cynicism and conspiracy, tying a (probable) commercial event as a means to take heat off the board for the continued prevarication over the manager's position.

The likely truth is much more simple: the revelation of the new home kit for next season which will be worn in the final game of the season on Sunday.

This would have been planned and scheduled months in advance and could not have anticipated the events and fan unrest the club now finds itself in.

I notice how they didn't show the "iconic" wooden seats or a restricted view.

Craig Walker (13) Can we not do better than them 2 Chavs? I want Katie McGrath or Emily Booth.

Eugene @10. Not available until October is right. But also, you won't be able to physically get it in a shop outside of Liverpool city centre and the stadium shop. You can order it online from the club alright but nowhere else online.

Umbro posted a flash on Twitter about it as well. New kit coming to fund the manager's next great white elephant!

If it's the new kit, I hope Lukaku or Stones are not modelling it as I can't see many shirts with their names being bought unless the manager goes and they commit to the blues. Come to think of it, many people would wait until we buy new players in the summer.

As we can't get the new shirt till October, nobody will make that decision till the squad and new players (and manager) are settled.

Nice to see they're getting their money's worth out of that projector they bought a few years back for the Blue Christmas promotions...

If Kenwright and Elstone were involved in creating this then you can be assured that the co-ordinates do not come from a moral compass.

It's clearly a kit launch — note the use of yellow as well as blue and white.

If it's the retro Hafnia/Peter Reid type shirt I've seen, it is a super looking kit. I'm in!
