Robinson out until the New Year

Antonee Robinson has suffered an ankle injury that required an operation and is unlikely to play until into the New Year.

The 21-year-old who is on a season-long loan with Wigan Athletic has undergone an operation on an ankle problem and now faces an extended spell out of action.

Robinson, who has become a regular in the USA national team but missed the Rooney farewell game against England, has played in all but three of the Championship games for Wigan this season.

Shame for the lad. He has the makings of a good player.

Seems to be doing well so far. Hopefully he'll be fit in the New Year and a good second half of the season playing first-team football should see him ready to deputise for Digne next season, with Baines either moving on or joining the coaching set-up.

Read that as Richarlison for a second, nearly had a heart attack.

Hopefully he'll be back and ready in the new year. He'll make a good deputy for Digne next season.

Changing the subject but does anyone know what happened to Brendan Galloway? I thought he was still at the club but I haven't seen his name mentioned in any U23 games this season.

Wigan manager also said that he wants to bring in a new left-back in January...

Off on a bit of a tangent but, looking at how Southampton are struggling, I can imagine Allardyce salivating at the prospect of another hefty payday.

Though it's an injury and unfortunate, I see it as a rightly time, as he can pause, recover physically/mentally and reflect over the rich period he's had the last couple of months. I reckon, then, he will come back fresh and stronger in every way for the remainder of the season.

Gavin, I think Galloway is still injured from a knock he got in a U23s game a couрle of months ago. I might be wrong though...

Thanks for the info guys. Low and behold a story was published today about Galloway stating that he has been injured and wants a January move. His next Championship move will be critical because, unlike Robinson, he hasn't yet performed at that level.

I take on board what everyone has expressed, but I remember when he first came to us, and if memory serves, Baines was injured and he did a marvelous job in his place.

I fail to understand how someone so young could have deputised with an ability that was so encouraging, can suddenly and subsequently to have fallen so much out of favour!

Apologies to all, I misread the posts and thought we were talking about Galloway!
