It has been a rollercoaster year for Everton fans but one which leaves supporters excited about the future with Carlo Ancelotti in charge of the club.

The summer transfer window was a big highlight this year as the likes of James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucouré were fantastic signings which have helped the Toffees make a strong start to the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

Here is a look back at what have been Everton’s best three results over the last 12 months.

Everton 2-1 Leicester – 1st July

The Toffees finished the 2019/20 Premier League season really strongly, which was really important, as it meant they had some momentum ahead of the new campaign. One of the picks of their results last season was their 2-1 victory over Leicester back in July.

Leicester were in contention for the top four at the time but it was Everton who looked like the team who had the credentials to qualify for Europe.

Ancelotti’s side got off to a flying start with goals coming from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson in the opening 20 minutes. Michael Keane then did a great job of keeping the red-hot Jamie Vardy quiet. The victory kept up Everton’s excellent form at home as this was their ninth game without defeat at Goodison Park.

Everton 5-2 West Brom - 19th September

It’s not often that Everton score five goals in one game but they were absolutely dominant against West Brom in their second game of the 2020/21 Premier League season. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has since been called up to the England squad, scored the first hat-trick of his career, while there were goals for Rodriguez and Keane too.

Although the hosts were the favourites to win this game, it was the manner of the victory which stood out. All of Everton’s summer signings looked settled in the team, which would have pleased Ancelotti and fans of the team.

Everton’s odds to win this Sunday against teams in and around the relegation zone are regularly at about 10/11 in the moneyline, a market which offers punters the chance to bet on the outcome of the match. Those odds indicate there is a good chance the visitors will regularly come away with important three points.

Everton 2-2 Liverpool – 17th October

Although this result was not a victory for Everton, the performance said a lot about Ancelotti’s side. They stood toe-to-toe with the defending Premier League champions Liverpool in this Merseyside Derby and fully deserved their point.

Everton proved they are a match for any team in the league in this game and on another day, they may have won the tie as they had enough chances to do so.

When Sadio Mane opened the scoring after just three minutes, a lot of Everton fans would have feared the worse. Goals from Keane and Calvert-Lewin ensured they did enough to share the spoils with their bitter rivals.

Hopefully, there will be many more results like the above in 2021 in what is going to be a big year for the club in their push to be one of the best teams in the Premier League.
