Disclaimer () Rob Halligan 1 Posted 07/10/2022 at 19:45:31 Is this some kind of wind up………….?Adult website launches audacious 𧵬million bid to be name of new Everton Stadium Colin Glassar 2 Posted 07/10/2022 at 19:58:05 Liverpool awarded the Eurovision Song Contest! Will it be at Goodison or the Echo Arena? Rob Halligan 3 Posted 07/10/2022 at 20:02:39 Colin, Probably Anfield. Rob Halligan 4 Posted 07/10/2022 at 20:08:27 Ian,hey want to call it “The Stripchat Sustainability Stadiumâ€. 😂😂😂 Don Alexander 5 Posted 07/10/2022 at 20:24:09 Rob, I can see it appealing to any Baron Hardup! Tony Abrahams 6 Posted 07/10/2022 at 20:28:07 It's a lot of money, but can you imagine the stick we would get. Brent Stephens 7 Posted 07/10/2022 at 20:34:06 Rob, That's a good strap-on line. Nick Page 8 Posted 07/10/2022 at 20:53:02 Lol Steve Shave 9 Posted 07/10/2022 at 21:06:02 That reminds me, I was wondering if anyone knows how Gylfi is getting on in Turkey? Brendan McLaughlin 10 Posted 07/10/2022 at 21:06:35 Good news... in terms of stadium sponsors we're down to the hardcore. Rob Halligan 11 Posted 07/10/2022 at 21:13:34 Anyone planning a trip for the home game against Man City, just be aware that the date of the game, May 13th, is likely to change, as that is the date that the Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Liverpool, and I can't see our game being held on the same day. Having said that, this year's Grand National was on the same day we played Man Utd at home, so who knows? Michael Kenrick 12 Posted 07/10/2022 at 22:18:10 Steve @9, Clever link! I could never find any confirmation that he actually went to Turkey. But I do know that last month, Arnar Þór Viðarsson, coach of the Icelandic men's national soccer team, was asked about his status during the Icelandic team's press conference."No, I don't know," Arnar Þór said curtly. "I haven't heard anything about the situation for Gylfi and whether there is football ahead for him," added Arnar Þór. Sean Kelly 13 Posted 07/10/2022 at 22:36:50 Maybe we can call it "THE TWO TITS STADIUM" after bill and mosh. We can do better. Don Alexander 14 Posted 07/10/2022 at 23:12:47 The Big wHole stadium has a certain ring to it don'cha think? Don Alexander 15 Posted 07/10/2022 at 23:14:36 And I assume the thread is titled "the Catroom" on account of pussies? Colin Glassar 16 Posted 07/10/2022 at 23:23:29 You'd think Sullivan and Gold would be down for this type of sponsorship deal. Will Mabon 17 Posted 07/10/2022 at 23:25:28 Colin - good point! Paul Morrison 18 Posted 08/10/2022 at 00:18:49 I suppose we could name the away section, the Bell End. Bernie Quinn 19 Posted 08/10/2022 at 01:30:13 I see Man City were fined 𧶼k for a pitch invasion, breaking a crossbar, and assaulting the Villa keeper. How come Everton had to pay more? Kieran Kinsella 20 Posted 08/10/2022 at 01:35:19 Bernie,It makes zero sense. Danny O’Neill 21 Posted 08/10/2022 at 06:33:36 In the bigger scheme of all things Premier League, Bernie, it is buttons, but I agree, the principle speaks volumes. Even if we assume it was parallel and the same crime, then the punishment should at least be the same.I'm guessing when in front the hearing panel, Man City put a stronger case forward. I've only appeared to make a case in defence at County FA Level, but that's often how those things work in my limited experience. It doesn't make it right, but I suspect they've got a stronger negotiating team. Jeff Armstrong 22 Posted 08/10/2022 at 06:35:19 The club should just hand over 𧶲,000, same as City's fine, and say, “There you go, you can whistle for the rest!†Dave Cashen 23 Posted 08/10/2022 at 07:31:28 I don't know whether Rob Halligan knew something I didn't, or if he has just seen it all before, but he hasn't just been hinting that our fine would be greater than City's. He seemed pretty certain.I thought he was wrong, that they wouldn't dare.He wasn't. They did. The difference in the fines is relative chicken-feed for Premier League clubs, but that isn't the point. I'm going to need an awful lot of mouthwash to get rid of the bad taste this farcical judgement leaves. Andy Finigan 24 Posted 08/10/2022 at 08:42:25 Dave @23, The club must appeal this decision and let them know we won't put up with their biased shit. Tony Hill 25 Posted 08/10/2022 at 22:14:55 Nkounkou's performance today for Cardiff against Wigan is worth a watch. I don't think we should be writing this fella off. Brian Murray 26 Posted 08/10/2022 at 22:23:19 Tony. Yes, he has good link-up play and turn of pace. Defending not his strong point but definitely a player there, from what I remember. Tony Hill 27 Posted 08/10/2022 at 22:30:25 He's a bit of a conundrum, Brian. He has obvious talent. He was fabulous for two of Cardiff's goals today but, as you say, he's always teetering on the brink of a defensive lapse. He looks the sort of player who will either fade entirely or find himself and become formidable – if he's properly coached and positioned. Mike Connolly 28 Posted 08/10/2022 at 23:06:42 You can see why the EPL fined us more than City. They know we are run by a bunch of amateurs. We never win cases, apart from the Man City handball apology. However, that was more down to Liverpool being affected by that decision and we've been paying for it ever since. What's making it worse, all you hear about is how Newcastle have improved after a year since the takeover. Us, with our board are out of the picture. Kenwright has really dragged us down for years. Brian Murray 29 Posted 08/10/2022 at 23:23:05 Mike, Hope I'm safe in this chat room and not deleted. Can't stand that fraud of a man and I'm hoping and praying a takeover happens and he's denied his teary opening of the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock. From selling Rooney on the cheap, to failed ground moves, to bad manager selections, to woeful marketing and cheap sponsorship deals, his crime rate is unbelievable. He employs the likes of Denise who wouldn't dare say a word. Same with Sharpy. Brent Stephens 30 Posted 09/10/2022 at 16:34:45 Arsenal right out of the blocks! Tony Everan 31 Posted 09/10/2022 at 16:40:21 Can see a sending-off for them too here. First pass for the goal looked offside, but who cares? Brian Murray 32 Posted 09/10/2022 at 16:43:37 Go Ed gunners Kevin Molloy 33 Posted 09/10/2022 at 16:44:27 That draw is starting to look like two points dropped. Jeff Armstrong 34 Posted 09/10/2022 at 16:49:36 Is Kurt Zouma invited into this Catroom?ðŸˆâ€â¬›ðŸˆðŸ˜¿â€¦Wow some nifty editing there. Brent Stephens 35 Posted 09/10/2022 at 16:50:31 Very good, Jeff! Pedigree. Brian Murray 36 Posted 09/10/2022 at 16:50:53 Jeff, not a cat in hells chance that happening Brian Murray 37 Posted 09/10/2022 at 16:56:10 Let's hope we Winalot Brian Murray 38 Posted 09/10/2022 at 16:57:39 We had them shower on the ropes just no big haymaker joe Frazier to finish em, bastards, Brian Murray 39 Posted 09/10/2022 at 17:24:03 Go Ed goons finish em Danny O’Neill 40 Posted 10/10/2022 at 19:09:19 Last night happened. It's not the end of the world. We'll go and get something at Tottenham. We got opened up in midfield. Learn from it. Fix it.Today is my 30th Wedding Anniversary. My poor suffering wife deserves more than the 8 medals I've been decorated with by Her Majesty.Putting up with me being away for long periods – I spent at least 18 months of the first 2 years of my son's life away from home. I missed him walking and talking. He thought I was a picture on the wall when I came home. He wasn't sure who I was.But more so, credit for her putting up with my Everton obsession. We're about to go out and watch Aston Villa. I have to put the shift in reverse. It's only fair. There's only one woman in my life. There will only ever be one. Excuse my soppiness on this occasion. But Everton are a close second. She's had to endure that in the 30 plus years we've been together. Unfortunately for her, that's never going away. They'll always be a rival.Last night was disappointing, but let's not get carried away. A close result against a team that could likely qualify for the Champions League. Perspective. We didn't get battered. We lost a football match against a decent team that weren't that much better than us. They just had a bit more quality when it mattered. Christine Foster 41 Posted 11/10/2022 at 12:43:41 Danny, being honest I thought last week that, given Calvert-Lewin's return, we would either play him and go right on the front foot, or play Maupay and surrender play to keep it tight defensively and then go after them in the last quarter of the game, bringing Calvert-Lewin on.In the end, we lost the plot, having scored so early on. We should then have turned the tactics around, gone for them until going defensive in the last quarter. In the end, we did neither and got stuck in the middle. Tactically nobody changed it and that was the mistake, players caught between two stools, trying to defend for another 90 minutes... it was never going to work. Yes, players made mistakes but sitting back means being vulnerable when players are put under pressure by players pressing. So mistakes happened in areas that left us open. Brian Wilkinson 42 Posted 11/10/2022 at 16:27:56 I agree, Christine, my thoughts were, as soon as we scored, the crowd got even louder, we had Man Utd on the ropes, we should have sniffed the fear of them and gone at them for a second goal.Instead, we did a Frank Bruno against Tyson, clocked him one, had Tyson rocking, but instead of ploughing in to finish it off, Bruno just looked on and thought, "Oh, I've hurt him" and stood back, allowing Tyson to regain composure and come straight back. That is what Everton did, we stood off after the goal and allowed man Utd back in it, we allowed them to build momentum, defended too deep and made schoolboy errors for both of their goals. We had everything in our favour: an early goal, Goodison rocking, yet instead of pushing on for a second goal, we waved the white flag and retreated quicker than an Italian tank, back in our own half. That Man Utd team were there for the taking, yet we just sat there and let them come at us. Fair play to them, even at 2-1 they pushed for a third goal, did the complete opposite of what we did.Everyone could see we needed to change something at half-time, yet we waited and waited, until finally putting some subs on. With 5 subs allowed, I just cannot figure out why we leave it so long, every game, before making a couple of changes, even just two would still leave us a further three changes if needed. In a nutshell, Everton beat themselves, and much as I am behind Frank and still a work in progress for new players, he has to react quicker at making changes if needed, take full advantage of the new 5-sub rule.Week after week, Frank is delaying too long to make changes.Going forward, he needs to react quicker if making tactical changes, and bringing players on. How long did Gordon carry on as a passenger before we finally put fresh legs on? For all the great work Frank has put in, and got the players gelling, he needs to fix his Achilles heel and sort out tactical changes when needed. Any passengers on the pitch, hook them off and replace. Andrew Ellams 43 Posted 11/10/2022 at 16:37:20 Two tough back-to-back away games coming up now. We can't afford to start a slide before the World Cup break.
