Report Everton Women beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Villa Park Goals from Maren Mjelde and Honoka Hayashi on either side of the half-time break helped Everton defeat Aston Villa in the Women’s Super League. Anjishnu Roy 02/03/2025 0comments (last) Everton were clinical in front of goal and put up a resilient display to beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Villa Park. With the win, the Blues have climbed to eighth in the Women’s Super League table and are on 16 points. It was Aston Villa that dominated proceedings for most of the first half with Rachel Day and Jill Baijings coming close to scoring for the visitors but were kept out by goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan. The Blues, however, managed to convert their only opportunity of the half to secure a 1-0 lead. The hosts failed to clear a corner aimed at the near post and Maren Mjelde was quick to react to it, volleying home the bouncing ball to open the scoring for Everton. Aston Villa’s miseries were compounded when they had to take keeper Sabrina D’Angelo off after she suffered a blow to the face. Her substitute Katelin Talbert, making her Women’s Super League debut, endured a difficult day at the office. She failed to hold on to the ball and spilled it on to the path of Honoka Hayashi who scored her fourth goal of the season to double Everton’s lead. Everton Women have secured a win away from home for the first time in seven matches and as a result, Brian Sorensen’s side are now 10 points clear of Crystal Palace at the bottom. The Blues will face third-placed Arsenal at home on Friday. Reader Comments Note: the following content is not moderated or vetted by the site owners at the time of submission.
