Four things the Friedkin Group must do at Everton by Alan Ganlon 29 November, 2024 The Friedkin Group’s takeover of Everton has inevitably sparked plenty of talk amongst the club’s fanbase that a brighter future is on the cards. Some supporters are already dreaming about the Toffees winning silverware and have been eagerly searching for odds on next season’s competitions. There will likely be a clamour by Everton fans to secure the best free sign-up bonus no deposit promotions to boost their wagering bankroll next summer. While winning a trophy may be too much to ask in the first season, qualifying for Europe should not be beyond the reals of possibility if the new owners make the right moves. Before everyone gets too carried away, read on as we look at some key things the Friedkin Group must do to ensure their tenure as owners is successful. Avoid making false promises Everton fans have had to endure plenty of heartache in recent years, so it is imperative that he Friedkin Group deliver on their promises. Only the most ambitious supporters will think the club is going to enjoy immediate success, but they will want to see tangible signs of progression. There have been numerous examples in English football of new owners promising the world before delivering what can only be described as abject failure. The fans deserve respect from the people in charge of the club. If they adhere to that mantra, the Friedkin Group will be onto a winner at Everton. Stick with Dyche, for now There has been plenty of talk about Sean Dyche’s future as manager and it is unlikely that he will be the man who takes the club forward under the new owners. However, they must resist the temptation to dismiss him before the end of the season given the risks involved in handing the current squad to a new manager. Dyche is ideally placed to help Everton steer clear of relegation this season. He could then walk away with his head held high next summer. The new owners could then instil their own man and give him the necessary tools to revamp the squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. Be ambitious with Dyche’s replacement If the Friedkin Group decide Dyche is not the right manager to guide the club into a new era, they must be ambitious when identifying his replacement. Gareth Southgate and Graham Potter have been touted as potential options, but the club must steer clear of appointing either of them. Southgate previously failed in club management and his overly-cautious style with England ultimately cost them the chance of winning silverware. Potter also falls into the ‘underwhelming’ category having flopped at Chelsea. The club’s owners must identify a manager who will excite the fans and pull out all the stops to appoint him. Plough resources into the academy Director of football Kevin Thelwell recently spoke about the investments that have been made in recruiting young talents and how this will pay dividends in the future. He urged the new ownership to ‘be supportive of that process’ and claimed Everton would be in ‘a really exciting place’ if they prioritised the academy. Everton have historically been renowned for producing their own players, but the production line has slowed to a trickle in recent years. Those that have come through have largely been sold. The club’s fans love nothing more than seeing local talents proving their worth in the first team. Investment in the academy must be a priority for the Friedkin Group.
