Some perspective please
21/02/2005

David Moyes

I felt I had to respond to X Files fan Rob Williamson's article regards the outcome of the manure debacle. Are you taking the piss Rob or is this a serious article which should be considered in a serious light or have you spent too many hours watching JFK, moon landing and other various conspiracy shows?

I take it from your article that you believe Davy Moyes and the rest of the set-up at EFC took a corporate decision to throw the match. If it is your premise that the match was indeed thrown, what purpose would that serve Davy Moyes and EFC? Do you really believe a man of Moyes's calibre would for one second consider a tawdry financial deal to lose against the hated manure.

Do you really belive that Beattie is involved and when he took out Gallas on the grassy knoll that this was part of the masterplan?

I agree the performance was poor; however, we were up against the form team in England at the minute, we were down to the bare bones... we got spanked. Simples as! It happens; get over it.

There is a gap between the top 3 and the rest and it was cruelly exposed on Saturday. We all agree the squad needs additional class to compete with the top 3, my belief is it will come during the summer. We need patience; we're not going to be serious contenders for a season or two but does anyone really doubt that Moyes is the man to take us there?

As for Moyes's decisions regards subs, I agree they were a bit odd although Moyes is known to be reluctant to take chances and I suppose that could be a failing. But to start giving Moyes stick and imply slanderous shit is bordering on lunatic style behaviour in my considered opinion.

Has everyone forgotten how far we've came with no investment and little added to the playing staff? This time last year we were battling relagation and this year we're battling for Europe!

Behind-the-scenes issues continue to worry everyone but until someone comes up with some definitive facts as opposed to unattributed sources and rumour then I'll sit tight and support the club. Novel idea that, supporting the club!

Moyes will make mistakes but he's widely recognised as the best young manager in the country and we've got him!

Keep the faith!

ps: Toffeeweb..how about some positivity for a change? You're fast becoming known for sniping, self-loathing articles which contribute little to the cause.

Jeff, people find it hard to believe but the overall tone of the articles on the site reflects that of our contributors, not any agenda we are perceived to have. We publish the overwhelming majority of the submissions we receive and if they tend towards the negative, there's not a lot we can do about that apart from censure the negative ones... but what would be the point? We would become known for suppressing the voice of the very people for whom we have undertaken to provide a forum. If, as would seem to be the case, there is this huge bloc of online Blues who believe we are overly negative and want to talk up the positive, we give you our guarantee that this site gives equal consideration to all sides of any issue — Lyndon, ToffeeWeb Webmaster
