The Current State of Affairs

By Matt   Lavery  ::  22/07/2011   25 Comments (»Last) Does anyone feel up to counting up the costs of player wages per week, up-keep of the state-of-the-art training and youth facilities, a decrepit old stadium, loan repayments etc? I genuinely would be interested if someone cared to venture forward with a guesstimate.

Here's only 3:?

Arteta (say generously £45k/wk)
Cahill (say generously £40k/wk)
Fellaini (say generously £30k/wk)

That's £115k per week.That's 460k per month. And that's £5.52M over the course of a year...

Oh, I?ve started now... so I?ll just keep going? as much as I feel comfortable guessing! Who else have we got?

Osman ? £20k/wk
Howard ? £30/wk
Neville ? £30k/wk
Bilyaletdinov ? £30k/wk
Coleman ? £8k/wk
Baines ? £30k/wk
Jagielka ? £40k/wk
Distin ? £30k/wk
Mucha ? £5k/wk
Heitinga ? £30k/wk
Gueye ? £8k/wk
Rodwell ? £15k/wk
Anichebe ? £30k/wk
Saha ? £35k/wk
Hibbert ? £20k/wk
Yobo ? £40k/wk
Yakubu ? £50k/wk
Beckford ? £10k/wk

Plus all the young lads up and coming (I?ll be generous and estimate £50k/wk for the lot of them!) So that?s £516k a week on wages? Which is a little over £2 million a month and almost £25 million a year. I?m really not counting it up very well because I think we?re all pretty sure Arteta is on £60k/wk and Fellaini is surely on more than £30k/wk but you get the picture?

Although if I factor Arteta?s extra £20k a week at £80k a month, that?s £960k a year alone. Add at least £20k/wk to Fellaini a week, so that?s another £80k a month and £960k a year, equalling a little under £2 million extra.

Now, when we take into consideration their signing on fees, that adds up to quite a bit as well (but we haven?t signed anyone recently).

Does anyone know how much Finch Farm actually cost and costs to run? How much is Moyes on? What about all the coaching staff et al? What about agent?s fees? Council fees? Brand new turf fees? Kit fees (brand new ones used each time ? which I think is a bit daft? my top from 3 seasons ago is doing fine although the wife says it has an ?interesting smell?...

Another one, what about the bonuses players receive for goals, assists, match fees? How much do the shareholders receive? How much is Blue Bill currently raking in at the theatre?

What?s our debt currently? £20M? £40M? (Apparently £45M according to the Echo article below)...

How much does it cost to travel around Austria, USA etc? How much does it cost to travel around England for the match days together with petrol, accommodation, food? TV revenue for the season would probably just about cover this, I?ve tried to find an up-to-date summary but any help would be greatly appreciated?

I did find this from February 2010 on the Independent website but being rubbish with maths I?d like a bit of help with it all: Turnover: £79.7M
Operating profit: £6.3M
Net debt: £37.9M
Interest payment: £4.1M

Uncertainty reigns... £27M of the Toffees' borrowings ? secured on future ticket sales ? are spread over a relatively long period. But the 7.79% interest rate meant that £4.1M of cash left the club in 2008-09. The plan to increase match-day revenues by building a new 50,000-seat stadium in Kirkby was thrown into disarray last year when the Government rejected the proposal. I?ve also just found an article by the Echo regarding the finances at our beloved club from February 2011: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2011/02/08/everton-fc-vows-to-keep-star-players-despite-3-1m-loss-in-annual-accounts-100252-28131863/2/

Elstone recently came out to say that ?all the money? went on the club and having just dabbled in the financial section of Everton I?d have to say we certainly don?t look as if we?re swimming in ?extra cash?. Of course, this is all very, VERY casual financing (perhaps why I?m broke at the end of the financial year!) but it would be interesting to see what others think.

I hope someone comes to our rescue soon and that we have the chance to resurrect our glory days. Anyway, please discuss?
COYBB!
