Is there anybody there?

By Christine   Foster  ::  14/08/2011   52 Comments (»Last) I had intended to take a long break from some things in my life after a difficult start to the year and ToffeeWeb was one of them ? not because of the people who post but because, despite loving the club, the sheer frustration was just contributing to an already difficult time. But darn it, I just cannot leave all things Everton alone, especially when viewing selective responses by the club that divert the attention away from the key questions they should have been addressing.

I had intended to quietly watch from the sidelines and HOPE that somewhere in all of this, some sort of integrity would win out, but it hasn?t and I don?t think it will.

Perhaps the most perplexing response from the club is the silence. No press conferences by David Moyes. (I think the last one was in the US.) Nothing. No news, made up or not... No Interest, no activity, no visibility, so what?s going on??

Our PR Department must still be on the Costa del Sol... didn?t anyone tell this hapless bunch of halfwits that no generated interest ensures no sales from marketing?!? I wonder how the season ticket sales are going? Or perhaps this season's merchandise? Or even the apathy that the lack of communication has caused within the fan base?

This is an entertainment business isn?t it? How do you sell tickets? How do you generate interest? No news means no interest. We are the forgotten team of the Premier League... Why? Because there is nothing to write about, no comments from the club, just snippets from the players; nothing from the manager or the chairman.

We have seen this double act so many times it's like watching Laurel and Hardy, but then it abruptly stopped, about the time the likelihood of transfer funds did as well. We don?t even get soundbites from either of them let alone interviews anymore.

THE SILENCE IS DAMAGING OUR CLUB.

Sorry but the old adage of ?if you don?t have anything good to say then don?t say anything? means players lose interest, fans become frustrated and worried... IT DOESN?T WORK!

There is obviously something not too good going on; NEVER have we had nothing ? even the bullshit has stopped now, so why is it? What?s changed?

We want to hear about our club everyday, but we open with disappointment the BBC (our club page on the BBC is SO out of date it?s disgraceful), ToffeeWeb, or even the gossip page in hope of something... anything. But all we get is silence. It's no wonder the pundits are ignoring us; it's no wonder we are last on MotD, we are an afterthought.

Frankly, it's costing the club dearly in kudos, respect and support and almost certainly commercially too, so why is it happening?? Where has the spirit gone? Why has Moyes closed up shop?

Has he had enough? Has BK thrown his toys out of the pram and does Moyes believe the dynamic duo is now no more, is there a split? Are we in such a bad state that depression has set in with the management team?? Are they all on Zoloft? Nothing matters anymore??

The club is hurting itself, it?s hurting its fan base, it?s damaging our pride and our reputation. All we have is sheer bloody frustration and the embarrassing silence. Both are left festering in the dark.
