The week that was?

By Paul   Niklas  ::  17/08/2011   22 Comments (»Last) I know it's only Wednesday but it has been a different type of week for Everton supporters based on the previous two months of news blackout; I would go as far to say that it has been momentous.

"Why?" ? you may ask,"Pray tell..."

The anticipation and general excitement of the new season was brought to a complete and utter halt due to the Tottenham-based Everton fans very concerned about the fitness of Arteta and Fellaini; little did we know nor expect that Everton fans across the country would come out in support. David Moyes is more powerful than most of you may think.

The rumours abounded that we were interested in signing Joey Barton, a tenuous link that hits hard every time the word 'free' is mentioned... but at least it got us a mention on Sky Sports. Thanks, Joey ? it was some sacrifice to help your boyhood club get a mention.

The Ladies' team decided to start playing in the great tradition of Everton in the second half of the season, taking some of the press away from the Men's team, which is not a lot, but neither is the press for the Ladies team.

And finally, The People's Group, who have worked tirelessly in setting things up ? letters to the press, website, Facebook, a complete machine in creating a noise for the dissafected Everton supporters ? they excelled in achieving a meeting with Bill Kenwright to obtain all the answers we need re the current plight of the club; what did we get?

Nothing. This momentous meeting, from which you would have thought they would have gone straight to News International's office in London, typed it up Friday night and published it Saturday... what did they do? They went home, had their tea, went to another meeting with the lads to agree how they should type it up and what they should really say considering it was off the record in some instances.... then spent the next week working on it, in-between doing their day jobs, apologising to all for announcing to the world they had a coup ? they really should not have told anyone of their secret meeting until they had worked out how to type.

This is what being an Everton supporter is all about: we are full of great intentions from club to supporter and we really believe our own hype to the point that we are all delusional ? the one thing in common I suppose is our love for the club; however, with the greatest of intentions, we continue to fuck up.

At least QPR will feel the wrath on Saturday, just before the release of The People's Group report, which will say we have no money but we are all trying our best.

What will next week bring... ? "I can't wait."

"I have seriously by the way to reaffirm my positive outlook on the team and its players laid my bet that we will finish top four."

Come on You Blues ? Be positive!!?
