Postman's Knock

By Tony   Marsh  ::  07/11/2011   110 Comments (»Last) Were are they then? You know that Tata Group that were supposed to be buying Billy out or lending him money to give to the Grinch for new players... Ha Ha.

Last week, we were in the press or on TV every day... and now? Complete silence. What's happened? I mean Tata wanted to buy, didn't they? And BK wanted to sell (so he says), so where's the breakdown coming from? Surely it's just about the price, isn't it? More likely BK asked them to buy him out but leave him in charge... Sure, Bill ? that's going to happen...

Were any of you really fooled by any of it???

What annoyed me most about the whole despicable attempt to fool the fans was Moyes being used as a stooge by Kenwright to address the fans on Sky news... WTF? Do they think we are all as daft as they are? Pinnochio Moyes and the Puppet Master Bill pulling the strings... Pair of Spivs, they are.

As for the football on Saturday, the less said, the better. It all turned out the way we knew it would. Osman and Hibbert, shite as usual.... and the rest just going through the motions. We are in serious trouble this season.

In years gone by, when we have had our expected slow start, players like Pienaar, Arteta and last season Beckford have been there to pull us out the shit. All long gone...

Players still here who could manage to change a game and were once so reliable ? Baines, Cahill, Coleman ? have all been drained of spirit and look shadows of their former selves. How is it that Moyes is so adept at turning silk purses into pig's ears?

The usual cry of "It's better than the Smith years" is back with us... but it's not true. This is just as bad as the Smith years ? if not worse. Smith's time at the club was the most turbulent in the club's history... Boardroom wrangles, takeovers, players sold behind his back... Moyes has had it all so easy; no pressure, no chance of the sack, and decent money to spend compared to what Walter had.

When Moyes managed to get the club into a 4th place finish in 2005, he did so with mostly Walter Smith's team. Apart from Cahill, the rest of the side ? Martyn, Wier, Stubbs, Naysmith, Hibbert, Osman, Carsley, Gravesen, Ferguson ? were all here when Deadly Dave arrived. And these players made up the starting 11 almost every week... So Moyeses greatest achievment wasn't really of his own doing.

What is happening now is we are fast becoming a small-time club with a small-time mentality, thanks to Moyes and Kenwright. It's only our fans who believe we are still a big club and should act and play as such. This bending the knee to the richer sides is embarrassing and has to stop. QPR didn't roll over and die v City on Saturday. They had a right go and could've won with a bit of luck... At least they tried to win, regardless of the result, and you have to respect that.

Swansea didn't show any fear at Anfield and Liverpool are much bigger club than them. So why is it only us that use the "Money, we can't compete" bullshit before going belly up every game? I'm fucking sick of it.

10 points and the bottom 3 looming. Strikers and attacking players still not being used. Defenders throughout the side and a manager completly lacking in ideas. Is it time to worry or should we all stick our heads up our arses like the Moyes apologists would have us do?

You see ? Moyes is better than Smith and we finished 4th once and that's good enough for some... God Help us.
