Season › 2011-12 › News Werner: Groundshare idea ?dead? Lyndon Lloyd , 1 October, 7comments | Jump to most recent Liverpool chairman Tom Werner gave his strongest indication yet that there is no interest from the Anfield board of directors in sharing a stadium with Everton by declaring the idea "dead". There have been fresh calls for a groundshare proposal to be considered by the two Liverpool clubs, among them from former Culture Secretary and Everton fan, Andy Burnham, but supporter opposition from both sides makes it unlikely. "We have been told countless times by our supporters that they have no desire for us to share a stadium," Werner tells The Telegraph, "and we have listened to that. Our supporters are not for it, therefore it is a dead issue." Werner has not ruled out redeveloping Anfield despite the complications inherent in the reds staying where they are but Liverpool FC are known to favour a controversial relocation to Stanley Park that would move the club onto what is currently neutral territory between the two rivals.
