Veteran 'keeper hopes Barkley will stay at Everton
The Sunday Papers might be doing their best to perpetuate the speculation that Ross Barkley will be cherry-picked this January by one of the top teams in the Premier League but Tim Howard hopes the 17-year-old will stay at Goodison Park to continue his development under the protective wing of David Moyes.

The Daily Star are now linking Barkley, who has made just three senior starts but has already had a £20m price tag put on his head by the red-tops, to Tottenham Hotspur but Howard told that paper's Sunday edition that the lad is better off where he is.

"The one thing we've always had is bringing through young players and we've got a fantastic manager who is very shrewd in the transfer market.

"Ross is a talent. He's another in a long line and we hope he can thrive here and live out his dreams with us.

"He needs to be insulated with people who believe in him.

"The sky's the limit for him. Now he needs people who will tell him the right things and keep his feet on the ground."
