Reserves can't beat Wigan

Everton Reserves 1 - 2 Wigan Athletic Reserves
A fairly weak Everton Reserves team featuring Magaye Gueye and James McFadden but strangely not Denis Stracqualursi (with Apostolos Vellios presumably out injured) huffed and puffed against a resolute Wigan side at Finch Farm on Monday. They went behind in the first half when Gueye gave away a free kick, Hahnemann came racing off his line to block a shot that unkindly hit Mustafi and rolled into the net and put the visitors in front.

It was ex-Everton Academy player Danny Redmond who doubled the pain after the break, scoring a remarkable goal for Wigan out of nothing from 25 yards that dropped into the top left hand corner leaving Hahnemann helpless. Lundstram lashed the ball high into the Wigan net to reduce the deficit but it was not enough.
