Elstone: Genuine conversations are ongoing

In his latest blog post on evertonfc.com, Everton CEO, Robert Elstone, addresses the recent takeover speculation surrounding the club and reiterates the "85p of every £1" mantra in response to the question over where the money goes. He also admits that there is no imminent resolution of the issues preventing the new development at the Park End from proceeding.

Elstone insists that there has been "a constant stream of interest and dialogue" regarding takeovers and investment and that "genuine conversations" are underway with a number of individuals, groups and companies.

"The responsibility to find the right buyer is paramount," he writes, "and not an excuse for ?not really for sale' or ?wanting too much for it' or ?wanting to stay involved'," a swipe at supporters who are skeptical of the Kenwright regime's claims that it intends to step aside.

On the question of expenditure, an area that was a focal point of the Blue Union's line of questioning in their interview with Bill Kenwright this summer, Elstone says: "To get this straight again, almost 85p in every £1 we earn is spent at the training ground and academy paying the players, the coaches, the scouts, the conditioners, the medics, the support teams, team travel and accommodation along with rent and other overheads.

"What's left in the coffers, the other 15p in the £1, funds everything else. Quite simply, it doesn't allow us to waste a penny. It means we're a ?lean ship' and one of the leanest in the Premier League."
