Season › 2011-12 › News Moyes knows rebuilding is needed Michael Kenrick , 30 December, 108comments | Jump to most recent But pleads poverty as the real problem David Moyes has been talking about the need for rebuilding the team as his old favourites age, and of the long time it takes to get younger replacements bedded in. But the real barrier is lack of funds, yet Moyes again denies any requirement to sell off his bigger stars to finance regeneration, and adds that no offers are being made for them. ?The time will come, unfortunately, when we will need a big rebuilding job here. But hopefully these boys can keep playing, and it doesn't all come at once. ?But that is why we have to keep adding younger players to the squad, so that as one drops off we have another one coming through. ?It comes to an end for everybody somewhere along the line. Recently though, the hardest part has been seeing people I would like to replace and not being able to. ?I always look back to the likes of Jags and Baines. Even they took six months to settle in. So we could do with getting players in, letting the older players continue and gradually phasing in the replacement. ?But that's the hard bit, because those younger players are costing an awful lot of money. There is a big price to pay. I mean, what would a Jagielka or a Baines cost now if we were going to Sheffield United or Wigan? We couldn't afford a player of that standard now.? Moyes has not ruled out the possibility of having to cash in on some of his more prized possessions to facilitate a rebuilding programme. ?It could well be the case, but at the moment I am not getting told that,? he said. ?The problem for us at the moment is that we do not have the funds to make the purchases, so I don't have to make the decision at the other end (about the older players). ?And by the way, I have not had anybody banging my door down offering to buy A, B or C.?
