Gary Ablett was laid to rest today following a funeral ceremony that united the blue and red halves of the City.

The ex-Everton and Liverpool defender's coffin was carried into the Anglican Cathedral to You'll Never Walk Alone and carried out to the Z-Cars anthem. Ablett passed away aged 46 on New Year's Day following his battle with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Among those in attendance at the funeral were David Moyes, Phil Neville and Tim Cahill, with the Australian poignantly tweeting, "Rest in peace to a legend Gary Ablett. An emotional funeral and also amazing turnout for such a great person."
