Season › 2011-12 › News Where to now, Royston? Michael Kenrick , 6 February, 56comments | Jump to most recent In The Echo, Philip Kirkbride wonders what Steven Pienaar's return to Everton means for Royston Drenthe. Kirkbride claims that the signing of Drenthe in the final hours of August's transfer window meant Moyes had landed the man to make people finally forget about Steven Pienaar. But life at Everton for Drenthe has been something of a mixed bag. Ill-discipline and an ankle injury interrupted any momentum he was trying to build and inconsistencies have blighted his time on Merseyside, relegating him to the bench for the trip to Wigan. So, where does the signing of Pienaar leave Drenthe? If he cannot force his way into the reckoning at Everton, what hope does he have when returning to Real Madrid? Kirkbride concludes that Royston could either (a) see the South African as a challenge and the motivation to find his best form when called upon... Or (b) "take it to heart and wallow."!
