Season › 2011-12 › News Barkley stars for England U-19s Michael Kenrick , 28 February, 5comments | Jump to most recent Ross Barkley was the star player in England Under-19s 2 - 1 victory over the Czech Republic at Brisbane Road last night. Barkley created the first goal for Spurs' Harry Kane, and also set up the move which led to the Three Lions' second — headed home by Chelsea's Pat Bamford. The Wavertree-born player was denied a deserved goal late on when twice thwarted by the Czech keeper, but distinguished himself on the ball throughout the contest. Fellow Everton youngsters Luke Garbutt and Jake Bidwell shared left-back duties, spending 45 minutes apiece in the role and both looked calm and composed for Noel Blake's team. Trevor Brooking was particularly impressed by Barkley's display. He said: ?Barkley had a good game and I think he will be an outstanding talent for England in the future. ?I also think Everton will be pleased as well. ?He is always there or thereabouts in their first team but the 90 minutes will have done him good.?
