Moyes urges Rodwell to focus on Everton

David Moyes wants Jack Rodwell to forget about trying to make the Great Britain Olympic team and concentrate instead on getting fit for the 2012/13 Premier League season that kicks off in the same month.

Rodwell has been a big part of Team GB's promotional efforts ahead of the Games in London which will see a Great Britain football team compete, but the player's continuing injury problems threaten his participation.

Rodwell's season has been ruined by constant setbacks with his hamstrings, the latest coming last month which prompted a visit to renowned specialist Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt in Germany to diagnose the source of his problem once and for all.

With his manager ruling him out of his plans for the remainder of 2011/12, Rodwell has also been forced to accept that he is highly unlikely to make England's Euro2012 squad. With it looking likely that he will be fit for pre-season, the 21 year-old is no doubt holding out hope of making the Olympics.

Moyes, however, is hoping Team GB coach Stuart Pearce doesn't to select his young midfield prospect for the Games.

"I wouldn't be mad keen on him going if I didn't think he was going to be right,? said the Blues' boss.

?He has pulled his hamstring now three or four times.

?I have got to make sure that he is going to be right. Everton is where his priority should lie.?
