The posthumous award for the ex-Blues captain who passed away six years ago, was accepted in his honour by his wife Pat. ?Obviously there have been some wonderful players that have received this award, and Brian's right up there with the best of them,? she said. ?He was a wonderful character, a big man and a big Evertonian... He was first class. He never ever gave anything but his best.? ?Brian would be very honoured. His love for Everton will never be surpassed — you had to know him to know just what this Club meant to him.? Labone joins the likes of Dixie Dean, Alan Ball, Alex Young, Dave Hickson and modern-day greats like Kevin Ratcliffe, Bob Latchford and Dave Watson in the Everton Giants pantheon.
