Season › 2011-12 › News Blues can be next season's surprise Michael Kenrick , 14 May, 4comments | Jump to most recent Johnny Heitinga believes that Everton have a squad capable of becoming the surprise team of the Premier League next season — as long as David Moyes isn't forced to sell during the summer. Player of the Season Heitinga, who signed off with his first goal of the campaign yesterday, hopes the Blues can build on the second half of the season's momentum. He said: ?We all start with zero points and hopefully we can start better next season. If we play like this for the full year we can surprise everybody. ?It's hard to say how far we can go, first of all we need to keep our group together. That's a job for the manager. Hopefully next year the squad is still the same and we can surprise everybody.? Heitinga added that finishing above Liverpool for the first time since 2005 was an achievement the players appreciated as much as the supporters. ?It's important,? he added. ?We know the history and we know it's only happened twice in 20 years so we're happy. We're happy with the way we finished the season and we hope we can start better next season. ?It's a perfect week for me. We're above Liverpool so everybody's happy. I'm happy, the team is happy and I think all the fans are happy. ?I think we played quite well today from the start, we got two early goals which helps us of course. ?Only one team deserved to win today and it was us. I've been waiting all season for a goal and I'm glad I finally got one.?
