Forshaw, an Everton Academy player since he was 8 years old, made his senior debut for the Blues in the Europa League group game against BATE Borisov in 2009, Opportunities to make the grade at Everton were limited for Forshaw. He did eventually get on the senior bench, against Aston Villa in April 2011, forced by a crippling injury crisis, after playing in a fair number of Reserves games during the season. And the following week, at Wolves, he was given his league debut, coming on for 10 minutes at the end, with the game wrapped up. He was also on the bench for the last game of the season a year ago, the memorable win over Chelsea, and was then named Everton Reserve Player of the Season.
