Hodgson may turn to Jagielka if Barry is ruled out

Roy Hodgson may draft Phil Jagielka into the England squad for Euro2012 now that Gareth Barry has been ruled out of next month's tournament with a groin injury.

Barry underwent scans to determine the extent of the groin strain that forced him out of yesterday's friendly with Norway after just 26 minutes and it's deemed he won't recover in time.

Hodgson admitted that he will have to bring a replacement off his standby list and it won't necessarily be like-for-like.

Jagielka's inclusion would allow Manchester United's Phil Jones to deputise in defensive midfield.

"I am prepared to reconfigure the squad," the new England manager said. "I am not necessarily looking to replace man for man in the midfield areas because I have a lot of players there.

"I might have been more interested in replacing man for man in one or two other areas where we don't have the same degree of choice."
