Great report ken, My MotM was Mirallas not only his goal but also for the reason I think his tackle changed the game, almost as big as the tackle Phill Neville did to Ronaldo. He was honest enough to say he had not been producing the goods for the team and that he needed to step up and he stuck to his work. I thought his tackle really rattled them and showed we weren't there to be toyed with and that we wanted it more than them, plus I didn't think Suarez seemed as interested afterwards. I loved it when he tried to get Mirallas back and Mirallas jumped over him and landed on his head as well.

Ken, I envy you and the rest of the good folks at Goodison for the opportunity to savor such a cracking game. You'll remember it for many years to come.

There was a strange atmosphere at the end of the match, at least where I was in the Main Stand. People were fairly quiet, it seemed as though we didn't know whether to be happy or disappointed. Most of us just seemed content that the match had finished without anyone suffering cardiac problems.

It was a fantastic game of football, we were the better team but the RS made a significant contribution to it. They came for a win, and that probably helped our style of play, allowing us some space to play (unlike, for example, Crystal Palace a fortnight ago).

There has been criticism of our defending, rightly so, but there were also mistakes made up front where inexperience led to wrong decisions being made, and shots being put too close to their goalkeeper. However, the performance was hugely encouraging and if this is what "sin miedo" looks like, let's have more of it.

Thanks once more for a cracking report, KB, and for me there is only one thing to disagree with and that is MotM; McCarthy was wonderful yesterday and he will become an Everton great.

Cheers Ken! What a game of football that was!

I think it will be really interesting to see how Moyes sets his team up against us next week.

Watching this game, you can see that any team that tries to attack us will get it thrown back at them in spades. KITAP1 is probably the best way to play against us but surely that mentality wouldn't wash with the Old Trafford faithful.

I think this ws a taste of the "Martinez way" and it tasted good. Only one defeat in 12, and that at a ground where Man Utd, Spurs and Newcastle have all had their arses handed to them.

The future is looking bright.

Great report Ken. Even though it was on TV over here, I could not watch at times knowing what has gone on in previous derby games and also my wife saying I'd better calm down as my blood pressure was going up. However, I watched the full game twice later on and was proud of the "in your face" attitude Everton had towards the other lot's players.

As for the MotM award, I think all players deserve it but my choice would actually go to Roberto Martinez for having the courage to bring on Deulofeu when Baines went off instead of a defender.

All we need now is to sort out these stupid lapses of concentration on free kicks.

Ken,

Thank you for that picture that you paint each time which makes it possible for me to get a sense of what is going on in the stands, at the pub, and with the rest of the bluebloods. Being here in Canada allows me to see virtually every game live on televiision (I have missed 2 in the last 5 years).

The game was incredible and really should have been a win. My MotM would have been a hard one to decide.....as you picked Jags and I would have to agree that he had a great game...but for me the standout for many reasons was Barkley. He played in such a mature way considering it was his first start in the derby. Many would wilt under the pressure, but not Ross. He was composed and distributed the ball with both patience and precision. Did he make mistakes? Yes, however, there was much more to be optimistic about rather than be worried.

Liverpool have had a great start and to have risen to this challenge and almost won it continues this very good start to the season. Three points out of second and tied with Man U at this point in the season.....lots to be optimistic about....

Pissed off with Distin for giving away such a stupid free kick which led to their 3rd goal, no composure!

Terrific report as usual Ken. Felt like I was there.

Yes Keith, Distin failed to concentrate at a vital moment in a game where he managed to do many good things. Never have I seen him cover so much ground. He made tackles on the left, in the middle, in the right back slot and even half way up the right wing when everyone else seemed to go missing. An amazing athlete who was really up for it. Such a shame it went wrong at the end. Maybe all the effort marred his focus.

Terrific report Ken and thanks so much for the time taken to share these views, really enjoyed. I had to listen to the game on radio as my internet failed - not uncommon where I live!

It was heart-stopping having to listen to the radio. I threw my lucky jumper in the bin when Ross put one way over the bar (described as the second tier stand at the Gwladys Street end by the commentator). We were 2-1 down and I was getting despondent. At 3-2 I fetched it then binned it again when they equalised!

I have since seen the game and I believe MotM was McCarthy, this boy is going to prove a terrific buy is my feeling.

It was good to both hear on radio and see for myself what an improved performance we got from Mirallas.

Thanks again Ken, great read.

Good report Ken, you say 'If we can pick up from here', that my friend is the question.
I particularly look forward to seeing the Shawcross vs Lukaku arm wrestle.

It does prove that attack is the best form of defence when Everton went after Liverpool in abandoned mood in the second half. And should have won.

Exciting game by two teams that wanted it badly. I thought we were the best over all but those two set piece crosses we defended so badly --So Badly! (at this level, totally unacceptable).

Ken mentioned the thoughts on the ref pre-game. I've never been a gig fan of Dowd but I felt he did a pretty good job overall!

Onward and upward!!
