Season › 2013-14 › News Everton in talks over Shelbourne youngster Lyndon Lloyd , 19 May, 0comments | Jump to most recent Everton appear to be close to landing defensive prospect Ryan Robinson from Shelbourne, with the League of Ireland club's manager suggesting they are hopeful of concluding a deal in the near future. Johnny McDonnell tells the Irish Examiner that, “Everton are chipping away with us on Ryan at the moment and we hope to get the deal over the line soon,” for the 18 year-old who recently made his senior debut for Shelbourne and has just received a call-up for Ireland U19s' squad for next week's Uefa elite stage qualifiers. With the example of Seamus Coleman (who, of course, was signed under David Moyes for a mere £60,000 in 2009 from Sligo Rovers and has become one of the best value-for-money signings in Premier League history) no doubt in mind, McDonnell's comments indicate that negotiations at this point are about making sure that the deal for Robinson is the best for Shelbourne in the long run after an initial, up-front £150,000 payment. “The initial fee won't make us millionaires but we'll make sure it's heavy on the end of it. It might be better for us to go for the add-ons and everything else. “Ryan certainly has a big future in the game. Everton would have seen a rawness to him but he has a lot going for him. We'd have no problem allowing him to move on to a better level in England.” The youngster has already spent time on trial at Finch Farm and if the Blues are successful, Robinson would follow compatriot Stephen Kinsella, a winger who will join Everton's Academy this summer from Templeogue United.
