Site update: Technical issues

, 8 August, 13comments  |  Jump to most recent
We have been experiencing some server problems lately which have resulted in intermittent "504 Gateway Time-out" errors.

Rest assured that the issue is in no way one caused by your local computer or device, rather the server's ability to deliver pages to your browser, and that we are working with our hosts to resolve it.

[A good way to know if the problem is with a website's server and not your local environment is to visit www.isitdownrightnow.com].

Thanks for your patience and our apologies for the hassle.

When I tried to load the site today and it failed, I thought we must have signed a new player. Alas Atsu will have to do.

That's probably what triggered it, Andy! The issues we've been having crop up when traffic increases. The day we signed Rom was another example – site was down for ages that day.

Steve (3), very glad to be able to provide it to you. Now just hoping we can work with the hosts to fine-tune things so that we keep the server up when you need it most!

Lyndon:

Have you tried launching Â’Operation GoodisonÂ’?
That should sort it.

I've been having problems with another website taking over the ToffeeWeb home page and downloading unwanted crap on my 'phone.

Are the issues related?

Eric I can help out here. A 504 error just indicates that your attempt to connect to the ToffeeWeb server has timed out because there was no appropriate response from the ToffeeWeb server. No connection to unwanted crap on your phone!

The "Sod's law" effect has been evident lately hasn't it. The live screening of the game on the OS got off to a late start yesterday then the picture was freezing every couple of minutes with intermittent snatches of commentary. Then I hear "what a go...." and ...nothing! So, quick to iPad for TW live forum to see what was happening.....and it had crashed!
Gremlins eh! Trust us to score so early on when I couldn't revel in it!
Still thanks for all your hard work Lyndon, and Scott#2, lol someone had to say it!

LL/MK - FYI: the 'Pre-season...' thread is malfunctioning for me. It cuts off in the middle of post 13. People are continuing to post on it so it must be working for them. What gives?

@Kev: I was about to write a strongly worded e-mail about my post from 2am in there had been deleted as well.

That makes more sense.
